In June 2025, we began the construction of the new earthquake-resilient, 8-room school building at Shree Siddheshwori Secondary School in Tanahun.

The old school buildings had collapsed and had leaking roofs, cracked walls, and suffered flooding during the monsoon rains. It was an unsafe environment for the 230 students who studied there.

Almost a year later, the new school building is almost complete! The students will soon be able to continue their lessons in bright, safe classrooms, with new learning resources and new furniture!

Thanks to the incredible efforts of the entire @Educate team, who ran marathons in three cities over one week to fully fund this project!

Aprile 1994, Rwanda. Ho visto l’orrore e perso chi amavo. Sono uno dei 41 bambini sopravvissuti. Oggi leggo la mia lettera al mondo per ricordare e far capire cosa significa vivere quella realtà. 🌍💔🇷🇼

For the 230 students at Shree Siddheswori Secondary School, the dream of learning in a safe, modern environment is almost here!

Our Project Manager, Tek, recently visited the site and captured this stunning drone footage showing the progress of the new school, and the beautiful rural landscape of Tanahun.

We’re so grateful to everyone for making this possible.

Thousands of disadvantaged students across rural Nepal rely on their education to break the cycle of poverty and reach their full potential. For the students at Shree Siddheshwori Secondary School, accessing quality education has been made more difficult by their unsafe learning environments caused by earthquake damage. Despite these challenges, for the last three years, the school has received 100% pass marks at SLC level (School Leaving Certificate) for all students.

The new building at Shree Siddheshwori Secondary School will address the daily challenges that face the 230 students, creating a stronger, more supportive learning environment which will improve the lives of both students and the teachers supporting their educational journey.

Meet some of the young students who will directly benefit from the new, earthquake-resilient, two storey, eight room school building when it is completed later this year.

With huge gratitude to the entire team at @Educate, who collectively ran marathons in three cities over one week to fully fund this project!

Education, specially at the school level is transitioning to a new paradigm of transformative structure and content. The aim of school education has become more holistic and completely learner and learning centred under the aegis of the New Education Policy 2020.
Focus on preparing students for the 21st century knowledge society under the first ever integrated Curriculum Framework between the ages of 3 to 18 entails equal attention to the Affective, the Cognitive and the Psychomotor domains.
School teachers need innovative strategies to achieve this in their classrooms.

Project Update from Tanahun! 🇳🇵

We’re excited to share that work is now well underway at Shree Siddeswori Secondary School! The earthquake-damaged buildings have already been safely demolished, and the site is now being prepared for foundation work to begin on the new structure.

Earlier this year, we shared how the old school buildings - collapsed and leaking roofs, cracked walls, and flooding during monsoon - were unsafe for the 230 students who study there.

Very soon, construction will begin on a new, earthquake-resilient, two-storey building with 8 classrooms, providing a safe, secure learning environment that will benefit current and future students for years to come. Head teacher Mr. Narayan Prasad is confident that once the new classrooms are complete, even more families will want to send their children to Shree Siddeswori.

Thanks to the incredible efforts of the entire @Educate team, who ran marathons in three cities over one week to fully fund this project!

Stay tuned for more updates as the build progresses!
