The staff of Layman E. Scott Sr. High School sincerely appreciated the visit of Mr. Mark Ray, Director of the Department of Education Services, and Miss Simone Lynch, Acting HR Director for the Ministry of Education and Training, on World Teachers’ Day.

Their presence and the thoughtful tokens presented to all our teachers and assistant teachers brought a personal touch that made the celebration especially meaningful.

Heartfelt thanks to the Ministry of Education and Training and the Department of Education Services for recognising and celebrating our dedicated educators. We are truly appreciative! 💙🍎

They say a picture is worth a thousand words—and you’ve seen the photos! Now, we’re sharing some video highlights from the Ministry of Education & Training’s World Teachers’ Day visit to RBPS. 🎥💛

What made this visit special was the personal connection. With over 1,000 team members, the representatives were able to refer to our staff by name and connect with them on a personal level. That recognition means so much and reinforces our belief that education is about people—the people who serve and those we serve. 🤝📚

These spontaneous moments captured our teachers doing what they do every day: making an impact through their teaching, care and encouragement. Our students were also pleased to celebrate their teachers, adding to the joy and appreciation throughout the visit! ✨

The RBPS staff extend heartfelt thanks to the Minister for Education & Training, Hon. Rolston Anglin, and the Ministry and Department teams for this thoughtful initiative. Thank you for making our educators feel seen, valued and celebrated. 💐

The Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) and Department of Education Services (DES) are aware of a fraudulent school closure notice being shared on social media.

We want to reassure parents, students and the wider community that this notice was not issued by MOET or DES.

We understand how worrying messages like this can be, especially for families trying to plan their week. Before sharing this or any other message, please check the official MOET and DES social media pages to confirm it is genuine.

United in Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

All 11 NCFC members wore pink in Parliament today in solidarity with everyone in the Cayman Islands facing breast cancer, the survivors, and the families beside them.

Early detection saves lives. October is a timely reminder to book that screening.

Every woman who steps onto the Miss Universe Cayman Islands stage brings her own story, courage and purpose. Today, we begin a series sharing the voices of our past queens and contestants. ✨

We’re proud to start with Genesis Ryan, our 2025 First Runner-Up. Genesis is now part of our organisation, continuing to give her time and talents to support the women following in her footsteps. We’re grateful to have her on the team and to hear what the pageant experience has meant to her.

Over the coming weeks, you’ll hear directly from more of the women who have been part of our journey. Their voices remind us why we do this work: to help Caymanian women grow in confidence, serve their community and pursue what comes next. 🇰🇾👑

Thank you @kirkfreeport for sponsoring Genesis ❤️

What a proud moment for our RBPS Mass Choir! 🎶🇰🇾✨

Our students brought music, enthusiasm and Caymanian spirit to the Government Administration Building on Thursday, 24 September. It was wonderful to see their performance bring smiles to staff and visitors. We are so proud of the way they represented Red Bay Primary School! ❤️👏

Thank you to the Ministry of Education & Training for the warm welcome and for sharing these lovely moments.

From discovering new career paths to making connections with potential employers, Cayman Islands Further Education Centre (CIFEC) students got a closer look at where their next steps could take them.

The Ministry of Education & Training joined participating organisations at the CIFEC Career Fair on Friday, 18 September, where students explored career options across the public and private sectors.

Acting Minister for Education & Training, Hon. Nickolas DaCosta, JP, MP, encouraged students to speak with as many organisations as possible, noting that a single conversation could open the door to an internship or even full-time employment.

Also attending were Deputy Premier and Minister for Tourism & Trade Development, Hon. Gary Rutty, and Deputy Governor, Hon. Gloria McField-Nixon.

The Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) and the Department of Education Services (DES) urge parents and guardians to make sure children are prepared for wet conditions throughout this week (21-25 September). This includes ensuring children have raincoats and umbrellas for drop-off, pick-up, and transitions between classes.
Parents and guardians are also asked to arrange to safely collect their children from the bus stop when they return from school.
This follows a Flood Alert issued by the Cayman Islands National Weather Service (CINWS) for all three islands through Monday, 21 September and a forecast of heavier rainfall on Tuesday, 22 September.
MoET and DES will continue closely monitoring the situation in consultation with Hazard Management Cayman Islands (HMCI), and will share any further school-related updates through social media and direct communication if conditions change.
