Last week I had the privilege to service as one of five youth delegate representing the United States 🇺🇸 at the Y20. Over 100 Delegates from 17 countries convened in our nations capital to work on the 2026 communiqué concerning the interests of global youth in diplomacy.

The event was nothing short of amazing! I am very proud of the negotiated agreement and have been reflecting on this opportunity where I got to speak as of voice for American youth, meet some of the most interesting people from their respective home country, and contribute to a document that pushes for a new paradigm.

This experience filled me with joy, and I hope future delegations continue to work towards a world built around consensus and understanding, just as those before us have 🌎🖤 #globaly #ypfp #y20

It is my distinct honor and pleasure to officially announce that the @y20usa_2026 https://www.y20summit.org/ has concluded with a powerful communiqué highlighting innovative and timely youth-led policy points. All decisions made by world leaders, multilateral organizations, and regional bodies will directly impact the future of youth. And yet, too often, youth voices are not taken into account by those decision-makers. The Y20 exists to ensure the future is built with youth, not just for youth.

It takes a village to put together this massive global convening, and I am enormously grateful to the teams at @globallyorg and @ypfp_main for all their coordination and support of this summit. And a specific thank you to our ten illustrious track chairs, all of whom are USA alumni of the Y7 and Y20 programs.

To our incredible venue hosts, thank you for providing the perfect spaces for the negotiations, conversations, networking, and celebration! Northeastern University Arlington, The Aspen Institute, and the Embassy of Spain in Washington, D.C. And to our incredible financial sponsors (all of whom are listed on the last page of the communiqué), thank you for making this summit a reality!

To the Y20 USA 2026 delegates, thank you for your leadership, wisdom, camaraderie, and insights throughout this process. Your collaborative engagement underscores the imperative need for multilateralism, diplomacy, and global cooperation to address the world’s most pressing problems.

Now the work of advocating and implementing these policy points begins! I am sending my full support to the @ukfutureleaders, the hosts of the Y20 2027 in the United Kingdom. Continue this significant charge of championing youth policies and providing the space for this important dialogue to flourish.

My week at @oneyoungworld Summit 2022 - Manchester was absolutely life changing. It opened my eyes to the myriad challenges facing our world, to the phenomenal grassroots campaigns that are working to save our planet, to the ignorance I held and to the misinformation I had been taught. I connected with young change-makers from every corner of this earth and those connections felt instantaneous because we all shared one common goal: to enact the transformational change that we have longed for in our relatively short lives; the transformational change that the generations that came before us could not even imagine as possible.

I am grateful to the cohort of friends that I made day one and grew with as the week went on. These relationships are ones I will keep with me forever and will strive to reconnect, collaborate, support, uplift, and celebrate along the way. We are the future our ancestors dreamed of.

To summarize this experience: I was given a new level of hope for the future. In a time where international leaders seem more out of touch with the needs of the people of this world, this generation and the generations to come are ready for radical change that abandons colonialism and allows indigenous leaders to thrive; that puts sustainability over profit; that celebrates the natural diversity of all living things at every level of our society.

This change will not be easy, of course. But it is possible, as long as we all agree to act with love, compassion, joy, and vulnerability. When we accept that leadership is not held within an individual, but within a community of accountability.

Plenary Meeting and Preamble Negotiations | July 22nd, 2022 🇮🇩. I can’t seem find the right words that make justice to express what I have felt the past two weeks, especially when signing the Y20 Communique on behalf of my country, but I can certainly try:

For the past 5 months, it has been a massive honor to be Mexico’s Head Youth Delegate at the G20. It meant sacrificing weekends, meetings at 1 in the morning, and reaching consensus when it seemed almost impossible at times. On the other hand, it also meant meeting some of the most fascinating folks I’ve ever met. It is a scary world out there, one scarred by ongoing conflict, an ever-growing climate crisis, and a post-pandemic world that struggles to come up with innovative solutions to tackle old socioeconomic paradigms. Personally however, I am hopeful. Hopeful because I met youth willing to roll up their sleeves and - through our diversity - learn from each other to come up with better, newer policies. Hopeful because I am lucky enough to have been inspired by so many other delegates and observers, teaching me new ways of thinking, and making me a better person in the process. Finally, hopeful because we adopted the Y20 Communique, a document consisting of 131 actionable points, directly calling G20 leaders to take action on 4 key topics: Sustainable and Liveable Planet, Diversity and Inclusion, Youth Employment and Digital Transformation.

My biggest thanks to @daniela.senars @janavoorting and @rafariverax of @y20mexico for being the best Co-delegates (and friends) I could have asked for, and for putting the name of Mexico up high. I would also like thank the organising committee (@y20indonesia2022) for all their hard work and patience; thanks to you, I loved every second of my time in Indonesia. Massive shoutout to @rahayusaraswati who led the plenary session: I have come to learn of all the work she does for the country she loves, and I am immensely grateful I met her. I wish I had the space to mention every single amazing person I met here, but to all the G20 delegates, organizers and observers I met, thank you thank you thank you for letting me meet you and work with you! 🇲🇽🤝🌏

From South Africa to the world! So grateful to have represented South Africa at the Y20 summit Indonesia. This week has been nothing but extraordinary. I had the opportunity to help draft the preamble for the G20 youth with other head delegates. We held our final plenary session at the Gedung state building where the Asia Africa conference was first held. In leading the South African delegation, I had the opportunity to finalise the last changes to the communique after working on it for the last 6 months . So grateful to @y20indonesia2022 for the opportunity to speak for the youth of @g20org.

Lastly thank you to our sponsor @sanlam_group for flying our delegation to this monumental summit! #y20indonesia2022 #youthareleading
