The Story Of Art In America couldn’t leave Cape Cod without paying tribute to that iconic lighthouse, and grabbing a few bags of Cape Cod chips for the road.

And with that, this is a wrap on Season 6 of The Story of Art in America: Public Art. 🎬✨

From Toledo to Columbus, Burlington to Harrisburg, Philadelphia to Newark, and finally here in Provincetown, this trip introduced us to incredible artists, historians, and community voices who are shaping public art in their cities every single day. Thank you to everyone who welcomed our crew along the way!

The Story Of Art In America’s final interview in Provincetown was with Samuel Tager, who wears two hats in this town: curator at the Pilgrim Monument and Provincetown Museum, and executive director of the Provincetown Public Art Foundation. Standing at the base of the monument itself, hearing him speak to both the town’s history and its public art scene was the perfect way to close this chapter.

A huge shoutout as well to Nina Cantor, Provincetown’s fantastic Director of Tourism, whose support and enthusiasm for this town’s art and culture scene made a real difference in how our time here came together.

The team also met Naya Bricher, whose incredibly colorful and surreal artwork stopped us in our tracks.

Her paintings blend hyperreal detail with dreamlike, almost fantastical imagery, a style that’s earned her recognition around Provincetown and beyond. Walking through her studio felt like stepping into her imagination directly.

It’s exactly the kind of creative energy that makes this town’s art scene so special.

Today The Story of Art In America started at the Provincetown Public Library with Director Amy Raff.

This library is known for something you don’t see every day: a half-scale replica of the schooner Rose Dorothea suspended right inside, a nod to Provincetown’s fishing history built right into the space where people come to read.

From there, The Story of Art In America visited the home of Lauren Ewing, the sculptor who created the Provincetown AIDS Memorial, joined by Margaret and Nina Cantor, Provincetown’s Director of Tourism.

Sitting with the person behind a memorial that means so much to this town, in her own home, was a moving way to close out the day.

The Story of Art In America arrived in Provincetown, Massachusetts, and we couldn’t be happier to be here.

We spent our first day with Jay Critchley, an amazing and truly one-of-a-kind artist, touring his theme park P-town, Inc. It’s hard to put into words what a visual experience it was, Provincetown’s creative spirit on full, unforgettable display right from day one.

That’s a wrap on Newark.

The Story of Art In America spent our last stretch here walking through some of the city’s most stunning murals, a fitting close to everything we saw and heard this week. Huge thanks to Rebecca Jampol, Fayemi Shakur, and Kristina Koonce for their support and the warm welcome they gave our crew.

Tomorrow we’re back on the road, heading to Provincetown, Massachusetts. Cheers!

The Story of Art In America closed out the day in Newark with Manuel Acevedo, a multidisciplinary artist known for his street photography documenting the city.

His lens has spent years capturing Newark’s people, buildings, and everyday moments, a perspective that felt like the perfect way to end the day.

The Story of Art In America made a stop to see a mural created through Yendor Arts’ community mural initiative, brought to life by artists Hans Lundy and Malcolm Rolling.

Newark’s murals keep telling us the same thing, this city’s public art is a community effort, built by artists working together to tell its story.
