POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Petikan 6 minit dokumentasi video Teater Normcore: Odisi Romansa dengan sari kata Inggeris (ratio asal 16:9, versi medsos ni crop nampak bahagian tengah saja).

"Biar ku rasa euphoria, tapi kelakarnya
Segalanya hanya sementara"

Hawa, a self made indie project led by Eff Hakim. She writes songs based on her pain and self-affirmation. Making it big as a girl growing up in Kuala Lumpur, her early teenage years as a groupie, and her breakups. All these everyday frustrations and amassed traumatic events have led Eff to translate her soul into lyrics and rhythm.

"Terkuburnya Seorang Gadis di Kuala Lumpur" consists of nine tracks in total. "Emophilia" (taro's choice) follows a relationship focused perspective, driven by its bassline and Eff's vocal delivery. Her screams (during live shows) in between the lyrics are somewhere in between cynical and sweet !

Never heard of Hawa's songs? Just for pre-emption, imagine Mazzy Star is angry about life and love, she screams her lyrics with Laila's Lounge's melody and guitar rhythm playing in the background.

Taro's Note
I've been geeking to do this interview. First time i saw Hawa live was for Grrrls to the Front earlier in 2025. It was like love at first sight, when i watched "Mayat Hidup" and "Aku Dah Mati" music videos on YouTube, I knew I had to be there at Vox Live KL. I mean, yeah, I was there mainly because of FUAD and Grrl Gang, but watching Hawa perform her tracks (pre-TSGDKL debut), I immediately connected with her lyrics. She speaks for all girls who are going through it, she speaks for girls who romanticize deaths, she's the wanita that all the gadis in Kuala Lumpur looked up to.

Intro clip was shot by me Feb 8 '25.
Emophilia LIve clip was taken from twinkshoplifter YouTube Channel.

Happy birthday to my beautiful wife, my best friend, and my favourite person. This is our second birthday celebrating together as husband and wife, and I’m endlessly grateful that Allah chose you to be my partner in this life.

May Allah always protect you, bless you with good health, happiness and a beautiful life, and grant you everything your heart quietly wishes for. May we continue growing together, laughing together, annoying each other a little 😂, and making beautiful memories for many, many years to come.

Thank you for being you, and thank you for letting me walk through life by your side. I pray that no matter how many birthdays come and go, I’ll always be there to celebrate every single one with you.

Happy birthday, sayang. ❤️

Alhamdulillah for you. Alhamdulillah for us. And Alhamdulillah for another year of loving you. 🥹❤️

The red carpet rolls out,
a hollow gila glamor parade
masking the heavy silence of unpaid labor.
Cinema as backdrop,
a glittering prop for an elite photo-op.

Imported guests sleep in funded beds,
while local hands are fed with the illusion of prestige,
told that passion is payment enough.

Air Mata burns as free bahan bakar.
The theaters are packed, the tickets are cleared,
the creators’ hands remain empty.

You raise a glass to the facade of the screen,
but when gala dinners outweigh,
empathy is not in the frame

Q&A | Tears in Kuala Lumpur

Cast & Crew in Attendance: Ridhwan Saidi (Director), Lim Paik Yin (Actress), Liew Chee Heai (Actor), Nurul Afiqah/Eff Hakim (Actor), Rashid Akhmal (Actor), Lee Qi (Actress), Tan Cher Kian (Producer)
Moderator: Alee Isa

During the post-screening Q&A, director Ridhwan Saidi and his team shared the remarkable journey behind Tears in Kuala Lumpur.

Driven by an urgent response to a real-life event, the film was made without a complete screenplay, relying instead on improvisation and post-production editing to discover the story.

Ridhwan drew inspiration from the geography of Kuala Lumpur itself, imagining the two lead characters as two rivers that meet only once, making the city the narrative heart of the film.

Rooted in years of theatre collaboration, the process was built on trust and creative freedom, with actors bringing their own experiences to the screen.

Through a carefully crafted balance of silence, sound, and a final voice-over narration, the film achieves a poetic and emotionally unified cinematic language.
