About the book "Zwischen zwei Abgründen / على شفير هاويتين"
[engl: On the Edge of Two Abysses]:

Ataya is being interviewed about his escape from the war in Syria for a documentary. As
he reveals his memories in front of the camera, the boundaries between reality, fantasy,
and magic become blurred. This bilingual (Arabic-German) accordion fold book was created in a dialogue
between the author, Abdullah Alqaseer @abdullah.alqaseer the artist, Nikolaus Fasslrinner @atelierfledermaus , the designer, Ayman Hassan @studiozumra and the series editor #stefanmaneval. Fasslrinner's abstract, coloured drawings
form an expressive panorama in front of which Ataya's story about leaving and arrival,
empathy and trauma, as well as living on with the past unfolds.

Limited edition of 100 copies, handmade in Berlin, thereof 80 signed and numbered.

---

Übersetzung a.d. Arabischen: Suleman Taufiq

Mit einem Vorwort von Björn Bentlage @6joern

Can you imagine how many goals and dreams are in the head of each of us and this false belief that we are on our way to reach them?
The pleasure of reaching, failing, or not reaching. This pleasure to draw our paths, doubt everything break the rules and create our own way this pleasure is my goal. @juliesavery.jpeg @tedtedtedlb @matildeflor @nader_sherin @onek1d @hazem_sale

Wow! Thank you to the International Institute for Very Very Serious Studies for your having me teach a full course of Bouffons. To me it meant meeting beautiful people as we moved through the class together with curiosity and a taste for risk taking.

We used mask techniques emphasizing the relationship between performer and audience by playing big!
We reached the heights of the Mystere with giant bodymasks to strip social constructs and played with concepts of beliefs, rituals and survival.
And then we dove deeper into the underbelly of society to explore our own relationship to power and distill patterns of violence and oppression to expose them with full agency via the Grotesque and the Mockery.
What a transformative journey!

thank you to the IIVVSS team, students and Clown me in team for their wonderful and warm welcome.
