Hiii everyone!

I would like to share some more amazing photographs taken from this year's moments of photography work I've done with some amazing individuals. It feels amazing to meet, reunite, and create visually with many of you, hear your stories, and have great conversations during our photography sessions. All the presence of excellence, accomplishments, depth of growth, confidence, and most importantly celebrating yourself, your joy, is important. I just want to say the biggest “Ahéhéé'” to all of you.

I'm also not done photographing and that is the surprising part of this year because I have become use to this artist experience of the opportunity wave. It get's busy, and sometimes there's no work.

Somehow, I've managed to keep my pace of work at it’s best patience with what I value as an individual. I appreciate everything and am so thankful as photographer moving forward into more great memories and experiences. I'm so excited to meet my new clients, and work with many of you soon again. FROM HUMBLE BEGINNINGS TO INDIGENOUS INNOVATION. A VISIONARY REDEFINING WHAT’S POSSIBLE.

What happens when creativity, cultural identity, and an unwavering entrepreneurial spirit come together?

On this inspiring episode of Beyond the Art Podcast, we welcome Louie Gong—Coast Salish artist, entrepreneur, cultural innovator, and founder of Eighth Generation, whose extraordinary journey demonstrates that success isn’t defined by where you begin, but by the possibilities you dare to imagine.

Growing up in rural British Columbia, surrounded by cedar forests and raised by his Coast Salish grandmother and Chinese grandfather, Louie learned early that resourcefulness, community, and determination could turn limited means into extraordinary opportunities.

His artistic career began unexpectedly—painting hand drums for an intertribal canoe journey. That creative spark eventually evolved into custom-designed shoes and, ultimately, the founding of Eighth Generation in 2008.

What began as a small creative experiment became a groundbreaking Indigenous design enterprise, challenging conventional business models while creating opportunities for Native artists.

In 2019, Louie reached a remarkable milestone when Eighth Generation became tribally owned by the Snoqualmie Tribe—demonstrating the power of Indigenous entrepreneurship, cultural stewardship, and community investment.

His journey reminds us that the most meaningful legacy isn’t simply what we create—it’s what we make possible for future generations.

@louiegong (Nooksack) will receive the Leadership in Arts & Culture Award at the International Examiner’s 2026 Community Voice Awards on October 22.

A self-taught Coast Salish artist with Chinese and Native heritage, Louie Gong founded @eighthgeneration, the first Native-owned company to produce wool blankets, and launched the Inspired Natives Project under the motto “Inspired Natives, not Native-inspired.” King 5 News has labeled him the “most successful Native artist in history,” and his works have been featured on the cover of British Vogue Magazine in collaboration with the stars on @killersoftheflowermoon2023, starring Seattle-area Academy-Award nominated @lilygladstone, in exhibitions and programs with the @smithsoniannmai, @peabodyessex, and locally within the Whatcom Museum’s People of the Sea and Cedar, a permanent exhibition of Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, and of course, @winglukemuseum.

I’m proud to be Indigenous and honored to be an Indigenous mother. It is a privilege to hold and raise this next generation fire keeper. He will be kind, he will care deeply and fight for justice, he will speak our language (hopefully better than me), he will be proud of where his ancestors came from and will lead our future to where it needs to be. 🔥🔥🔥 Keep growing and learning my mkos (little bear) this day is for you 🫶🏽

On this #IndigenousPeoplesDay, Converge Media is taking a look back at a deeply moving story originally shared in 2024.

At Eighth Generation (@eighthgeneration)HQ, community leaders, elders, and allies gathered alongside the Snoqualmie Tribe to celebrate the release of the Huy x Eighth Generation Butterfly Blanket, designed in collaboration with Nooksack artist Louie Gong. More than a blanket, it serves as a physical and spiritual embrace—symbolizing metamorphosis, healing, and unconditional support for Indigenous relatives returning home from incarceration.

As Huy Chairman Gabe Galanda and Eighth Generation CEO Colleen Echohawk (@cechohawk) shared, wrapping returning relatives in the butterfly blanket reminds them that they are honored, valued, and embraced by their community. Formerly incarcerated leaders like Chef Jason Vickers (owner of Natoncks Metsu) and community advocates like Stacey Rice emphasized how vital second chances, cultural grounding, and active community support are in breaking cycles of recidivism and fostering true rehabilitation.

This throwback also honors the memory and legacy of Elder Francis Cullooyah (1943–2024), who spent decades bringing spiritual strength to brothers and sisters behind walls:

Pennsylvania is one of the many states that acknowledges both Columbus Day and Indigenous Peoples’ Day. As we near this day of acknowledgment, I was curious about Indigenous creators and what representation there is in the interior design and home decor market. I’ve been truly inspired by learning more about the greater community and created a brief glimpse into some favorite designers and home finds.

Native American designs communicate spiritual beliefs, cultural history, beliefs, cultural history, tribal identity, and a deep respect for the natural world. There are hundreds of tribal nations within North America.

If you are interested in incorporating Indigenous designs into your home respectfully, the following are some tips:

• Center on Storytelling: Let a single statement art print, carved wooden piece, or hand-coiled ceramic bowl serve as a focal point in your room.

• Prioritize Authenticity: Always buy directly from Indigenous artists and tribally owned businesses rather than mass-market cultural reproductions.

• Layer Textures: Combine earthy woven table runners, wool accent rugs, and natural materials like cedar, clay, and wool to add organic warmth.

STORIES WOVEN IN BLOOM is kitty approved ✔️

In collaboration with NDN Girls Book Club (NGBC) programs director Kinsale Drake (Diné – Nat’oh Dine’é Tachiini + Ashiihi), Community Coordinator Lily Painter (Kiowa & Winnebago), and college graduate & artist Jenabah Yazzie (Diné - Todichiinii/Bitter Water Clan) we honor the importance of the Yucca plant and Diné & Kiowa aesthetics in our Stories Woven in Bloom Wool Blanket.

A 501(c)3 literary nonprofit, NGBC’s mission is to make quality Indigenous literature accessible to everyone. The organization gives away books and care packages, hosts free community writing and editing workshops, and organizes Indigenous literature talks. To date, NGBC has distributed nearly 40,000 free books by Indigenous authors. Eighth Generation is honored to donate a portion of first-year sales from this blanket to NGBC to further their important mission.

Being part of @eighthgeneration’s Stories Woven in Bloom campaign felt close to my heart.

Designed by Diné artist Jenabah Yazzie in collaboration with NDN Girls Book Club, this blanket carries a beautiful reminder: the care we inherit can become the care we carry forward.
