Today, Reservoir Community Farm welcomed Congressman Jim Himes @repjimhimes for a visit to the farm and community garden. Congressman Himes was greeted by GVI’s Executive Director, board members, staff, and neighbors who gathered to share what grows here, and why it matters for Bridgeport.

The afternoon included a walk through the farm, a look at the community garden beds tended by Bridgeport residents, and a conversation about food justice, urban agriculture, and the work GVI has been building since 2012.

One unexpected highlight: Congressman Himes took a particular interest in our beehives. Turns out he is a fellow beekeeper. 🐝🌻

Thank you, Congressman, for taking the time to visit, listen, and walk the land with us. This farm belongs to Bridgeport, and visits like this remind us why the work matters.
