Lima is packed with incredible places to eat, and one we love sharing with @thegourmetvacation guests is @calarestaurantelounge 🌊🍽️

A beautiful evening for an even more beautiful purpose ❤️

I had the opportunity to attend Wine & Fries benefiting Ronald McDonald House Charities of South Florida, @rmhcsfl and I left so impressed by the work they do for families going through some of the most difficult moments of their lives.

We even heard from a mother currently staying at the Ronald McDonald House here in South Florida, who shared what it has meant to have a home away from home while her child receives medical care. Hearing directly from a family being supported by the House really put the evening and the mission behind it into perspective.

I also loved learning about the team and volunteers who help make the House feel like a home, from supporting families in their day-to-day lives to organizing activities for the kids. I can’t wait to learn more ❣️🍟🍔

These photos are from one of our past Gourmet Vacation adventures with Chef Bruno Macchiavello from Charlotte, and they give you a pretty good idea of what happens when we get behind the counter. It’s fun, interactive and educational, but most importantly, it connects you to Peru through its food and the people who make it.

Norman Van Aken gets into the chefs he believes are still carrying Miami forward and why the answer is bigger than talent alone.

For him, the standouts are the people with a real connection to place. Chefs like Michael Beltran, Giorgio Rapicavoli, Michael Schwartz, and others who have built through community, culture, and years of pressure in a market that keeps getting harder to operate in.

The bigger point is that Miami’s culinary future will belong to the chefs who can protect that identity while adapting to a business that has completely changed since COVID.

How do you celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month?

The United Teachers of Dade (UTD) reached out to Amelia 1931 and asked to be part of their Flamenco Wednesdays on September 23 and 30, and October 7 and 14.

We sincerely thank Chef/Restaurateur Eileen Andrade for welcoming UTD members and making us feel right at home!
