This weekend around 30 of us went camping in a field with a fairly simple plan: make puppets together. people brought scraps of fabric, cardboard, sticks, paint, instruments, food and whatever skills they had to share. we made masks and puppets, cooked for each other, sat around fires, got in the sauna, danced, ate enormous marrows and bright bean salads, and somehow watched a pile of sticks and an old dress become a whale. I’ve been thinking a lot about creative exhaustion recently. I am exhausted… So many brilliant people I know are burnt out, struggling for work, losing funding or wondering whether there’s any point continuing to make things in a world increasingly obsessed with doing everything faster, cheaper and with fewer people, not to mention the world being on fire. but spending a weekend making completely unnecessary silly things with other people made me feel hopeful again, and left me feeling sure that we need to make more spaces like this. Where there is not end goal! June 21, Solstice. The longest day that never ended. Sunrise at Coldrum Long Barrow, 4500BC Sunset #1 at Hilly Fields Stone Circle, 2000AD.. River nymphs in the Darent. Saturday at Fire in the Mountain Well somehow I managed to double expose my film so now we have various images of the festival haunted by the ghosts of Kilpeck Norman church, @annamcluckie At @latespringfolkfest , and a rather ominous pink octopus. All of which summarises well the frenzied chaos of the parade leading up to @club.debris jubilant set that night! @fitm_festival Let's pretend I'm really creative and did it on purpose. 35mm, Kodak gold 200 with an OM-2 and not enough attention
