Sometimes it snows overnight and you sled for hours with high hopes, but north winds scrape everything to sketchy wind-board in a matter of hours—so you either head home or make a few laps anyway. There's probably this much coverage on these lines already and i can't wait for a rebate. Last spring this day turned out to be a fire drill but despite the bad snow, we still messed around and had some fun...i thought i'd see if i could hold a tuck through the whole chute in the last clip😂...but i got scared and opened up for a sec halfway when it felt like i started hovering😂😂🤙

Today is the last day of the ski hill in Whistler and although it wont look like this, it has me thinking back to what could be called the last significant day of my professional season.
We stepped into the unknown. I had really wanted to finally make it back up to Alaska this season but after too many hurdles i decided to not force it. Despite many great trips up there in my early 20's and filming many Alaskan style lines in BC the past 20 years, it had been 9 years since my last AK trip, and 13 years since since my last AK heli trip...which will go down forever in my memory bank as i shared many great descents with the late great JP Auclair. Long story short, i couldn't make it happen and was quite devastated, but i know all things happen for a reason, and the Bute trip was born. And a great consolation prize it was.
There's only one better omen in the mountains than seeing a raven fly over, and that's when you have an eagle fly over. Well into our final morning after we already laid down some amazing runs on a zone we dubbed 'The Arena', we heard our safety coordinator call out on the radio "check out the eagle flying over!". With all my energy and focus on making the tech line i was standing on and the trick out the bottom i didnt even acknowledge it...because i felt it....i felt it like how you feel when spirits are close to you, and right there much of my stress and tension to make the last two lines of my season count dissipated. This juvenile bald eagle, like many birds before, was likely just my Dad or one of my many friends i've lost to the mountains popping by to show us a sign, give us power or boost our confidence in decision making. In this case i believe it was to boost our confidence. Needless to say, the next two runs went amazingly smooth and as we flew home tapped out on budget from three mornings exploring some of the best terrain in the world, there was a communal feeling between the group that we just lived through a very special experience, one we'll all hold close to our hearts for the rest of our lives. It was like time turned back to another era riding firsts in somewhat uncharted territory, and one thing's for sure-we'll be back.

A few zones from @buteinletlodge that got away...some due to warming and windslabs, some due to missing light, and some due to simply not having enough time. This is the kind of shit that keeps me mind surfing and drives me to go back to places for years, in search of excellence. Plus this is just scratching the surface...there's still more to explore and more insane zones we did ride that are worthy of a round two. Im hyped to soon share a taste of the raddness we skied but this spring was different then others. I had a harder time letting go of skiing, i felt good and excited on snow and wanted to create more opportunities to allow visions that i'd had on my mind, plus i'd eyed many zones(around home and abroad) that i really wanted to use as my canvas. That being said, the days i did get at the zones i did ski were amazing, and these feelings are the driving force to continue this lifelong journey i started as a child. I'm ending this season stoked and keen for finding ways to get more time in the future on the terrain that feeds my soul and ability to excel. This trip to the beautiful Bute Inlet on the central coast of BC was icing on the cake, but there's always more toppings that could be added. Needless to say, @tannerhall420 and I are extremely psyched for round two back up there next winter.🔥😤😍

Grateful spending days exploring new areas and terrain.

This trip to @buteinletlodge was the standout of the year. Although I wasn’t standing on top and skiing the lines myself, being part of the team in those mountains, watching @kyepetersen and @tannerhall420 ski at an incredible level, was more than I could ask for.

It was an expedition heading out there with an idea and a bunch of unknowns but I think it exceeded everyone’s wildest dreams. Excited to share a couple new projects down the road.
