Ella Katzenbach of the Tijeras Canyon Ward and her San Clemente Girls Flag Football Team play in their CIF ROUND 3 game tomorrow night!! (SAN CLEMENTE VS LAKEWOOD TUESDAY, OCTOBER 29, 2024 Home at SCHS 6:00pm)
Ella’s cousin Tatum Westover (who also spent many years in the Tijeras Canyon ward) is one of her teammates and a fellow senior at SCHS!!
Ella shared this about her experience: “This is my first year playing flag football and seeing the progress that I made in just one season makes me confident that it is never too late to try something new! If I could describe my team in one word it would be AWESOME!! All of the girls and coaches on JV and Varsity do our best to cheer each other on and push ourselves to do better each day. On Varsity, my teammates and I are all friends outside of the field too. I think that’s what makes our team so special. We all care about each other and lift each other up. We want the best for each other.”

What a season. From our first practice to the CIF finals, this team made history in our first-ever year of girls’ flag football. These girls didn’t just play the game—they owned it, finishing as CIF runners-up and showing the heart, grit, and determination of champions.

But beyond the wins, the most special part of this season has been the bond they’ve built. They’re more than teammates—they’re family. A family that lifts each other up, cheers the loudest, and finds joy in every moment, on and off the field.

I am so proud of everything you all have accomplished, and I’m going to miss you more than words can say. Thank you for giving your all and showing everyone what it means to play with heart ❤️
