October 5 was a special moment for me. We brought OBOS to the stage at the Tunis Opera House for the @jmctunisia , after months of work, ideas, rehearsals and a lot of collective energy.
The OBOS album has 10 tracks, but for the live show, we wanted to go further. We brought back 10 more tracks from Vipa’s (more than 15 year) journey in music, and I took on the challenge of reworking them so they could live in the same musical world as the album.
From the arrangements and orchestrations to the overall musical direction, my goal was to make these 20 tracks feel like one coherent project, performed by more than 20 artists on stage.
For me, it was never just about adding instruments to rap. It was about building a sound of our own, bringing together hip hop, Tunisian influences, brass, percussion, keyboards and choirs, while finding the right place for every element.
Reading the reviews and seeing the musical work behind the show acknowledged means a lot to me. There is so much that happens before the lights come on, and I’m happy that some of that work reached the audience.
Thank you, @zriguibow , for the trust, and to every musician and member of the team who put their energy into this project. A special thank you to @olfatrabelsi_ for all the work she put into the album’s production and for helping bring this project to life. Proud of what we built together.
thanks to the technical team who made this possible.
