Infancy in Everything, my debut full-length solo record, out November 5th, 2024

On November 5th, 2018 I played my first @monday_monday_at_hotel_cafe after @rettmadison told me that was the most important show to book when I got to LA. That night I met the album’s producer and its muse. One month from today and six years from that first Monday Monday, the album will be yours. Art loves a full circle. Maybe it’ll even help distract you from whatever else is going on this November 5th?

This post is full of firsts - standing on the balcony of my first solo apartment where the record was completed, a photo from my first @thehotelcafe set in 2017, my first attempt at creating visuals for my music and the first original song I ever played live (shoutout Alex and Bryan in And 3 at the Cascades Library). Cheers to beginners luck.

This album would not exist without @spaghettimidwesterner for pushing it to be made in the first place and @buck_ae_down for helping it cross the finish line. So many hands graced this project and I can’t wait to tell you more about it. But as for today, there’s a subtle reawakening within me knowing I’m finally reaching another bookend and I can’t wait for you to hear the rest of this story.

I got a 35mm film camera back in July but never got the photos developed until a few days ago, so here’s a few of my favorite photos that I took between July and September of last year

“Rock n Roll Dream” / my anti-internet song is now on the internet

Hop in folx, we’re roasting the interwebs. This was one of those songs that appeared with instant clarity. It’s the second of four singles off my upcoming solo record ‘Infancy in Everything’ & was written in a half hour in my first Los Angeles apartment. I immediately brought the diddy to a song circle in @lucyclearwater ‘s living room later that evening & was so graciously received by a room of impeccable songwriters who pushed me to move forward with the tune. Like most of the album’s process, @spaghettimidwesterner , @drummergoose and I recorded the core rhythm section live at Kingsize Sound Labs in Chicago back in 2020 and then took the track to Matt’s studio in Mersailles, IL for most of the overdubs with additional recording of Lucy’s violin and vocal stacks in Los Angeles months later. Many screams were added in the process - sorry if I missed ya. My uncle @buck_ae_down finished the mix and master at his studio in Altadena this summer and here we are. Hopefully making George Harrison proud somewhere.

I’m celebrating the release TONIGHT at my favorite NYC venue @rockwoodmusichall with a bill I put together featuring the indubitable @derymusic @daphnegale @youknowzach
$10 presale & $15 at the door / 21+ / 9pm-midnight

I’ve been thinking a lot about the type of artist I want to be over the course of this release tour. The internet has wrecked my relationship with sharing but at the end of the day, all I care about is preserving a creative process that brings you honest intention. This song lept into the world more than three years ago and I’m an entirely different person now. The internet is an entirely different beast. But I at least trust that the people paying attention are doing so with tenderness. So to those of you gracefully listening - thank you for supporting this beautifully cathartic and often vicious cycle of work. I cant wait for you to hear what’s next.
