Last week at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC. It was a pleasure to present and discuss, with NGA staff, a series of exhibitions I’ve curated and co-curated between 2022 and 2025 alongside brilliant and generous colleagues.

“Curating the Asian Diaspora: A Latin American Perspective” was a timely opportunity to reflect on a body of work that I consider a life project. It also marked the closing of a chapter this year, as Cartas à memória [Letters to Memory] concluded its run at Sesc Avenida Paulista in May.

Ten exhibitions, eight books, and contributions to projects such as Haus der Kulturen der Welt’s “Musafiri: Of Travellers and Guests” exhibition and publication. Something different has taken shape since 2014, when I first began engaging curatorially with a set of questions that have continued to evolve throughout these projects.

As I went through the materials to prepare this presentation, I felt deeply grateful to everyone with whom I have collaborated on this journey, co-imagining its possibilities and confronting the problems and limitations of “curating the Asian Diaspora.” I’ve learned a lot with you, and continue to do so.

*The images from NGA’s Guest Dialogues are accompanied here by book covers of publications associated with the exhibitions discussed. I couldn’t tag everyone I wanted to because of the tag limit.

Exquisito’s visual identity was a project that redefined the way we create, and five years after its launch, its influence is still resonating.

Today, @itsnicethat published this piece by the incredible @elainerc about the branding of São Paulo’s nightlife, bringing together projects that help tell part of this story.

Since 2015, we’ve created so many projects for bars, clubs, and restaurants across the city, and we couldn’t be happier or prouder to be part of this selection alongside other studios we admire so much.

We’ll share the link in our Stories!

São Paulo is a city in constant flux. New bars, cafes, and restaurants open every day, partly driven by the aggressive densification brought on by the real estate boom reshaping many neighbourhoods. This creates fertile ground for designers, though working conditions are far from ideal: low-budget commissions, often among friends, and projects that are not always properly implemented. Bar identities, however, offer greater freedom. Less bound by the conventions of branding, they often seek to convey spontaneity and improvisation, leaving more room for experimentation.

Our São Paulo correspondent Elaine Ramos (@elainerc) outlines the references, details and techniques being deployed by Brazilian design studios to bring playfulness and nostalgia to the city’s streets.
