Glorious views from the fortress village of Puycelsi, southern France. The hilltop hamlet, in the Tarn region, is one of @lesplusbeauxvillagesdefrance We loved the 14th-century church Saint-Corneille, with its stunning blue ceiling, the narrow streets and historic half-timbered houses, with painted shutters. There are several restaurants, auberges and a well-stocked epicerie. Early in the evening, swallows soar above the rooftops, twittering… a magical spot (see pic 2 for the full swallow swoop!)

Seasonal & super-fresh! Lovely lunch at @gardenmuseumcafe Courgette soup & basil oil, Feta salad & roasted Tillingham beetroot, Rosemary focaccia hot from the oven, Seared Cornish octopus with risotto nero & gremolata and the most luscious roasted peaches with super-almondy frangipane & crème fraiche. The cafe is set in the courtyard of the quirky @gardenmuseum housed in the medieval & Victorian church is St Mary in Lambeth, right next to Lambeth Palace. The decorated tomb, see pic 7, is a memorial to John Tradescant the Younger. His father, also John, is also buried in the churchyard. The pair, both gardeners to the aristocracy and royalty in the 17th century, were plant hunters, nurserymen and founders of the first museum to be open to the public. Much of their collection was later acquired by Elias Ashmole and became the basis for the Oxford museum that bears his name

Lunch with a fabulous view in the pretty Luberon hilltop village of Bonnieux. Fresh goat’s cheeses, bread & tomatoes at @pepin_et_olivette a small epicerie & cafe. The little deck, packed with pots of herbs & flowers, has panoramic views of the valley, dotted with vineyards, cherry orchards and poppies. The stylish store is packed with well-chosen deli treats and little gifts - a gem!

Blue tile heaven! The Silk Road city of Samarkand surpassed all our expectations. Registan Square, comprising three towering madrasahs with azure domes and intricately decorated minarets, has been at the heart of the Uzbek city since the 1400s. The huge square was used for celebrations and royal proclamations; it also housed a busy bazaar. These days it’s packed with tourists!

A taste of Uzbekistan at Choyxonasi café in the central Samarkand market. Skewers were cooked outside on a charcoal grill, pastries & traditional bread in a wood-fired tandyr oven and manti dumplings on a steamer in the busy kitchen. The bread - obi non - is round and quite dense, with a chewy crust and black sesame seeds in the hollowed centre. Lamb skewers come with a spicy tomato dip & raw onions. The super-flaky pastries - called camcu or samsa - are filled with spiced lamb 🇺🇿

Throwback to 2019. Today seeing 47 prime ministers, heads of state and senior European officials including President Volodymyr Zelensky meet @castelmimiwinery in Moldova, reminded me of a magical press trip to Moldova with @winerist where we explored a unique and welcoming country with so much to discover including fantastic food and of course a wide variety of wonderful wines. I can’t wait to return again soon and to see this country in many more travel articles globally. #moldova🇲🇩 #moldova #chisinau #castelmimi #winerist

Memorable meal in Patagonia @quetrococina a ‘behind closed doors’ restaurant run by Martin & Coni in their home in San Carlos de Bariloche, Argentina. The couple grow many of the ingredients, including veg, herbs and edible flowers. They cater for just 12 diners and it was fun watching them prep dishes & explain techniques & ingredients. The lakeside town of San Carlos de Bariloche - a ski resort in winter - is in the foothills of the Andes, surrounded by stunning lakes and mountains. #cocinaargentina 🇦🇷

Sunday lunch at the beach - mesa con vista, definitely a table with a view! Super-fresh Catalan seafood and Aperol spritz (swipe left for more pix). Grilled prawns with garlic, lemon & herbs and chargrilled octopus with romesco - so sweet & smoky. Crema Catalana and xuixo (pastry filled with crema Catalana) for dessert at @restaurantesfurio Sa Tuna. Spotted lots of mauve stinger jellyfish in the sea - so pretty, shame they sting!

@winerist introduced us to Moldova and the many wine tourism opportunities across this country. It’s Europe’s best kept secret. Media coverage included: Daily Mail "With its rich soil and climate tempered by the Black Sea, Moldova has more agricultural land dedicated to vineyards than anywhere else"
Daily Telegraph "Why you should try Moldova instead of France for a wine holiday. Moldova has become big news in viticultural travel"
Sainsbury's Magazine "World-class vineyards, great food and friendly people. There’s never been a better time to discover Moldova"
The Arbuturian "And thank god for Moldovan food. Not just the glorious flaky weight of the pastries, or the salty richness of pork and cabbage rolls, or the soothing properties of zeama, the traditional noodle soup – but for Moldovan food culture itself" #moldova #winerist
