It’s a Passover and universal freedom song I wrote 40 years ago. Today I re-recorded it with my dear friend, the great Elana Arian.

✨ A little ritual, a little magic, and a beautiful beginning to 5787. ✨

Sabbath Queen is back, and what a joy to gather again in our new space! 💫 Friday night was filled with reflection, connection, and the kind of soulful moments that remind us why we come together.

Before the evening began, we are offered a glimpse into Shira Kline’s excitement for what we will explore, including a meaningful conversation with composer Elana Arian and the ideas that would weave their way through the night.

Curious where the evening took us? Step back into the magic with Shira’s full reflections from Friday night. 🌙

And this is only the beginning of our 5787 journey together. The next Sabbath Queen is November 13, and we can’t wait to welcome you back.

Shabbat shalom! I am so grateful my kids get to learn and experience amazing music like this @tamidpb with @abbie.strauss and @feivelstrauss . Watching Talya communicate and share leadership with her sister makes my heart so happy. Sharing and singing Shabat with your kiddos is SUCH a sweet spiritual exercise and I hope you get to enjoy, too. Thanks to @elanahope for this melody that reminds people all over the world how good it is to be together in this day 💕

I love praying, working, and celebrating in all sorts of different synagogues- it’s an enormous job benefit that I get to spend so much time in sacred spaces. I’m so grateful that @abbie.strauss and @feivelstrauss have created a community that is relational, responsive- simple harmonious with what my family needs at this juncture. After a decade of “home shuling” my kids are learning with them at @tamidpb (in addition to their study at synagogues where I lead, you know I’m extra like that) and I got to be a Jew in the pew (for part of) these holy days and it’s magnificent.
9 was skipping around the house singing someone else’s Hinei Mah Tov (@elanahope to be exact) and it felt so beautifully ldor vador that she has graduated from my super simple movement zipper hinei mah Tov to hers- we learn as we grow and I hope I’m laying the foundation for lots of kids to be ready to enjoy the music their future teachers share.
Building community, making music, celebrating with my kiddos- that’s my jam and I’m stoked I get to do it with @tamidpb

Eight years ago today, we gathered in a living room for an Elul experiment - and New Moon Rising was born! #throwbackthursday to this sweet house concert, where it all began.

Through ups and downs both personal and communal, the three of us have shown up for each other through song - and we are grateful to get to share this musical expression of care and connection with you along the way! We are so excited for yet another year ahead of harmony, friendship, and collaborative joy!
