Lillian Werbin is CEO, president, and co-owner of Elderly Instruments in Lansing, Michigan. She joined the shop in 2014 after a PR degree at Western Michigan, worked every desk from warehouse to management, and now leads the shop while keeping its original brief: a community store that serves musicians and their instruments for a lifetime.

Elderly was named America’s Top Small Business in 2023. Werbin also serves on boards including Bluegrass Pride and the IBMA Foundation and co-directs Midwest Banjo Camp, Midwest Ukulele Camp, and The Banjo Gathering.

She advises Gearcheck on how provenance and collection records should work in the real trade—buy, sell, trade, consign, appraise, and repair—so an instrument’s story stays useful to shops, players, and collectors as it moves through a life, not only when it sits in a vault.

He decided he wanted a Gibson J-45 acoustic guitar. We have looked in Seattle, Tennessee, Illinois, Indiana and found it at home in Michigan. Well…… @elderlyinstruments is once again a dealer of New Gibson guitars. The story behind the story of not carrying NEW Gibson guitars is worth looking up. Elderly Instruments is the place once again if you want vintage or a new Gibson. Let’s Go Michigan! Gibson Guitars were first made in Kalamazoo, Michigan so it is fitting they are back home at @elderlyinstruments

Not only is @joe_k_walsh a great mandolin player, vocalist and songwriter he’s also a great guy with a great laugh. One of his many projects @mrsunband has a new album coming out on Friday. It features Joe, @darolangerfiddler , @grantgordy and Aidan O’Donnell doing what they do best, creating beautiful music together. Here’s a brief clip of the before mentioned great laugh of Joe’s at my sophomoric attempt at humor. :)
