This one was so special to me. πŸ€πŸ‘‘ When I was given the opportunity to create a routine for some of the incredible women who have made an impact on the New York salsa scene, I knew I didn’t want it to be about complicated choreography or showing how difficult we could make a routine. I wanted it to be simple. I wanted everyone watching to be able to take in the presence of every woman on that stage β€” the Queens who paved the way, the Queens who are currently walking that path, and the Queens who are just getting ready to make their entrance. What most people don’t know is how nervous I was. πŸ˜‚ Standing in front of these women and telling them what to do was completely surreal because in that moment, I wasn’t looking at them as my peers. I was looking at them through my little 7-year-old eyes. The little girl who watched some of these women dance. Who admired them. Who was inspired by them. And somehow, years later, I was standing in front of them saying, β€œOkay ladies, from the top!” πŸ₯Ή It was truly a full-circle moment for me. To every Queen who stepped onto that stage, THANK YOU. Thank you for trusting me with this moment, for trusting our vision, for bringing your own beauty and presence to it, and for coming together to pull it off so beautifully. It was never about everyone looking the same β€” it was about seeing each of YOU. Different generations. Different journeys. Different stories. One stage. And to my husband, Jeffrey… thank you for choosing me to put this together. Thank you for trusting me with something that meant so much to you and for allowing me to be such a big part of La Finca de la Salsa. I know how much of your heart you poured into this documentary, so being able to contribute to it in this way meant more to me than I can explain. I will forever be grateful for this moment. To the women who paved the way, the women walking the path, and the little girls watching from somewhere in the room who will one day step onto it… This was for you. πŸ‘‘πŸ€βœ¨ #LaFincaDeLaSalsa #NYISC #NYCSalsa #SalsaLegacy #SalsaQueens
