In the past 15 years clothing 👗production has nearly doubled! 📈This means more waste, more pollution🗑, more labor exploitation🧵, more drastic impacts on climate change🌡. The people most heavily impacted by these consumer changes are indigenous peoples and black and brown peoples worldwide, whose water ways, farm land, and air are being destroyed for cheap throwaway fashion. Question and research where your clothes are made. Look at the labels BEFORE you buy! Opt for slow fashion made by local makers, second hand clothes, or fair trade companies. Most importantly make use of what you already own instead of impulsively buying unnecessary clothing. @invertednewyork by @elenalanda creates glamorous eveningwear using upcycled and recycled materials. @invertedny uses materials like plastic bottles to make beautiful sculptural flower sequins that adorn her elegant gowns. A master of embellishing, @invertednewyork pieces are slow fashion at its most elegant.
