REPORT | GAZA CITY | OCTOBER 13, 2026

Israel killed Moamen Al-Ayy (Abu Al-Ezz) — مؤمن الأي (أبو العز) — in a strike on his car on Al-Mashahira Street in Al-Tuffah, east of Gaza City. Others were reportedly injured.

People ran toward the smoke. By the time they reached the scene, the car had been destroyed.

His name was Moamen. They called him Abu Al-Ezz.

Before he became another name in the headlines, he was a person with a face, a life, and people who knew him.

His killing follows weeks of Israeli strikes that have taken more Palestinian lives, including eight-year-old Wafaa Akila and her father Youssef, killed in their car after going to buy school supplies.

On October 11 and 12, five more Palestinians were killed in separate Israeli strikes: Yousef Abu Rizq, Muhammad Ramzi Hajjaj, Abdel Hamid Jadallah, Izz al-Din Iyad Barhoum, and Salah al-Din Iyad Aql.

Different days. Different places. Different lives.

The names continue to accumulate. The killings continue. And the extraordinary loss of Palestinian life is increasingly treated as ordinary.

Every person had a life before becoming a name on a list.

ONLY THE NAMES CHANGE.

ENG Teachers Day for Palestine: Warsaw, 14 October 2026, from 3 to 6 p.m.

A new school year has started in Palestine. In Gaza teachers and students gather in tents and ruined school buildings to have in-person lessons for the first time in three years. On the West Bank, constant persecution is making it difficult for schools, teachers and students to function.

On 14 October, Education Day, from 3 to 6 p.m. we will gather by the Copernicus monument in Warsaw to read aloud the names of teachers, lecturers and other school and university employees killed by Israeli forces in Gaza and the West Bank.

Join us to remember and honour the dead and show solidarity with those who faithfully carry on their work in unspeakable conditions.

Israel carried out the strike during a “ceasefire,” in an area it has called a “humanitarian zone.”

Israel has killed at least 1,399 Palestinians and wounded 4,863 since the October 2025 “ceasefire,” according to Gaza’s Ministry of Health (22 Sept 2026).
