🏋️ POWER SNATCH

From the floor to overhead in one explosive movement, catching the bar above a parallel squat. Here’s the breakdown 👇

✅ THE SET-UP
Feet roughly hip-width apart, bar over your midfoot and close to your shins. Take a wide grip, brace your core and keep your back neutral, with shoulders slightly in front of the bar.

✅ THE FIRST PULL
Push through the floor with your legs. Keep the bar close and your arms straight, allowing your hips and shoulders to rise together as the bar passes your knees.

✅ BUILD THE POWER
As the bar reaches your upper thighs, drive powerfully through your legs and hips. Extend tall, keeping the bar close rather than knocking it forwards.

✅ GET UNDER THE BAR
Finish your leg drive, then move quickly underneath. Guide your elbows up and out before turning your arms underneath and punching overhead.

✅ CATCH STRONG
Receive the bar with locked arms, braced core and knees and hips slightly bent. Your feet may move into a slightly wider squat stance. Keep the bar balanced over your midfoot, with thighs above parallel.

✅ STAND AND RESET
Stand tall to complete the rep, then lower safely and reset before going again.

👀 Avoid pulling early with your arms, swinging the bar away from your body or jumping your feet excessively wide. If you’re pressing the bar out overhead, lighten the load and work on your timing.

💪 Technique first. Weight second.

THE DOUBLE DUMBBELL DEVIL PRESS 🔥

A burpee combined with a ground-to-overhead movement using two dumbbells. It challenges your whole body, combining strength, coordination and conditioning.

HOW TO DO IT 👇

▪️Start with two dumbbells on the floor, holding the handles.
▪️Step or jump your feet back and lower your chest to the floor between the dumbbells.
▪️Push yourself back up, then step or jump your feet forward into a stable stance.
▪️With a braced core and flat back, swing the dumbbells back between your legs.
▪️Drive through your legs and extend your hips to bring both dumbbells overhead in one continuous movement.
▪️Finish standing tall, arms locked out and dumbbells controlled overhead.
▪️Lower with control and reset for the next rep.

COACHING POINTS 👊

✅ Use your legs and hips to generate power.
✅ Keep the dumbbells close as they travel upwards.
✅ Finish overhead with your ribs down — avoid leaning back through your lower back.
✅ Choose a weight you can control throughout every rep.

WHY WE USE IT 💪

It works your legs, glutes, chest, shoulders and trunk while driving your heart rate up. Managing your pace and maintaining technique become a real challenge as the reps build.

At CommandoFit Bristol, we break down the movement and adapt the weight and burpee to suit your ability. Build confidence with the technique, then build the intensity.
