CULTURE MOVERS: Sarah Harrison

Sarah Harrison has spent years moving between the booth, the boardroom and the culture.

Known as LadyInTheTRAP, Sarah’s journey has taken her from DJing and broadcasting with platforms including Hot 97, BBC 1Xtra and Rinse FM, to performing at major stages, interviewing some of hip-hop’s biggest names, and building a career behind the music through A&R, marketing, partnerships and artist development.

Today, she’s also a music executive working with Mass Appeal, helping connect the iconic hip-hop company’s global vision with the UK and international market. She is also part of music tech company Strade Base, ushering the ring future of artist/fans revenue collaboration.

From DJ → broadcaster → curator → executive, Sarah is proof that there’s more than one way to build a real career in music.

Meet Sarah Harrison.
This is Elevating Icons. 🎬

I’ve given more than half of my life to this music shit. I’ve done every role you can imagine from intern, to creative, to executive…and still have the same hunger I did when I started over 20 years ago🤲

Excited for what God has in store for this next chapter🎶❤️

Let’s work!

Met Rob Jua over the weekend, and when he mentioned he was from LA, I had to put him on to the app! After telling him a little about what we’re building and what the app has to offer, he downloaded it right on the spot. I even gave him a quick walkthrough so he could experience it for himself.

Rob is doing some great work of his own, so make sure you check out his media platform, Elevating Icons Network, and support what he’s building.

Moments like this are what it’s all about—connecting, sharing what we’re building, supporting each other, and growing the community one person at a time.

📲 Download the app, check it out anywhere in the world, and spread the word via the link in my bio. Available on the App Store and Google Play.

Download. Connect. Support. 🤩🚀💙

Just doing what God said. Not questing, not over analyzing, just moving with faith and confidence. You can wait for your shot, or go make your own ball and arena✊🏾

To everyone with a dream and work ethic, stay delusional, disciplined, consistent, and persistent. It will work out bigger than you expected.

Pray, fast, push! 🤲

Nothing I do is as easy as it looks. I really had to change my mindset! That shit was challenging at first, till I understood God was improving me. I wrote RICH AGAIN with no plan in sight. I knew that whoever needed it, they would find it the same way I always found books when I needed them. It’s not just a book, it’s mindset enhancement program delivered through real stories. The link is in my bio, see you on the other side✊🏾

I think I’m ready to start teaching what I know….who needs a mindset tune up? DM

I really love this shit! 🧠

You might already have a skill the music business will pay you for‼️ You just don’t know the job title yet.

If you’re naturally great with people, Artist Relations might be your lane.

What do they actually do? 🤔

• Connect artists and management with internal teams
• Coordinate artist needs around releases, events and appearances
• Keep communication and expectations on track
• Solve problems and manage different personalities
• Build and maintain strong artist relationships

So how do you get experience? 🤷🏼‍♂️

Don’t wait for an Artist Relations job‼️‼️

Start with an internship at a record label, recording studio, music venue, festival or management company. Look for roles in artist services, talent coordination, hospitality, label operations or events where you’re actually dealing with artists and their teams.

That’s how “I’m good with people” starts becoming real experience on your résumé✅

Your way into music might be a skill you’ve had your whole life…..you just have to learn where it fits.

If you want to learn how to get into the music business and the real careers behind the stars, follow @elevatingiconsnetwork for more.

Most people trying to get into music don’t have a talent problem.

They have a positioning problem‼️

You can be good enough and still be invisible if you’re standing in the wrong lane🙅🏾‍♂️

Learn where your value fits. Build proof. Make it easy for people to see why you belong.

That changes everything!

Follow me…..I’m breaking down the side of the music business nobody teaches.

A lot of people don’t know this, but there are literally hundreds of different jobs and ways to make money in the music business✅

The problem is we all grew up hearing about the same ones… artist, producer, manager, DJ, A&R.

So everybody is fighting to get through the same doors 🙅🏽‍♂️

But what if you’re great with people? Or numbers? Or marketing? Maybe you’re super organized. Maybe you know how to sell. Maybe you’re just really good at figuring shit out.

There’s a place for those skills in music too.

Sometimes you’re not struggling to get into the music business because you don’t belong here. You just don’t know where you fit yet or how to position yourself for the opportunity.

That’s the part I want to help with.

You don’t always need another connection. Sometimes you just need somebody to show you the map.

Follow me. I’m gonna start breaking this down.

And send this to somebody who’s been trying to figure out how to get into the music business💪🏾

My book “RICH AGAIN” won the LA TRIBUNE “Critically Acclaimed Best Seller” Recognition🥳

Writing this book was one of the most vulnerable things I’ve ever done!

I overthought it for over seven years before I finally had the courage to put it out. But deep down, I knew the message God gave me was bigger than me. I was just selected to share it ⭐️

Funny but real story on how they even got the book…

I gave a copy to my homegirl @_unlished_ , who works there. A few months went by, and honestly, I forgot I even gave it to her.

She finally got a chance to read it and loved it so much that she submitted it without even telling me. She said she was just inspired to do it.

The team at The LA Tribune read it, reviewed it, and gave it almost a perfect score. Then Alicia called me with the surprise news….and I couldn’t believe it.

Sometimes God is working behind the scenes before you even know what’s happening.

Thank you to @losangelestribune for the recognition. Especially knowing this book was up against authors with massive followings, celebrity status, major success, and more…..and still, Rich Again stood out. I don’t take that lightly.

Thank you to all my friends who stood by me through every change. Thank you to my kids. And thank you God for every lesson and every blessing.

Next book will be coming out through a MAJOR book Publishing partnership🤝

I’m not here to force you to buy a book. But if you need to find it, the link is in my bio.

I love y’all💪🏾
