SAVE THE DATE: November 6 + 7 at @baadbronx under @pepatian_pepartsbx Dancing Futures Residency 2026 Tickets in bio! Title: Rituals for the Black Caribbean Description of Performance: Rituals for the Black Caribbean is a 40 minute performance invoking themes of beauty, resistance, and the Black tradition of rebellion. Movements from this performance are interpretations of the Guadeloupean dance Gwoka, Yanvalou, and Capoeira Angola. This dance is often performed in a circle of live drumming and singing but for the purpose of this performance there will be no live drumming. Rituals for Liberation and the Black Caribbean is a project that explores the deep roots of care in hostile and violent environments. The performance is a cross-cultural and political production of solidarity through the quest of movement with the underlying beat of resistance, rebellion, romance and liberation. This piece is a journey across time while highlighting the importance of sound, and dance as a tool to get free. Performed and organized by Zainab Floyd. Cast: Choreography, Zainab Floyd Dancer, Jendayii McGeachy @revolutionarylovee Dancer: Ruqayyah Hameedah @ruqayyah_healthylifestyle Music: Composer, Original Score Akeema-Zane @kissingtherain Costume Designer: Mawu Ama Ma’at G. Late Summer Post☀️ My summer was difficult and rewarding. While working 3 jobs + Gigs I started to see the fruits of my labor in many areas of my life. I don’t feel like the work is done but the payoff has reinforced my passion for creativity, life, and sensuality. This is the arduous path of an artist 😮‍💨🫡
