Thank you for being part of the inaugural Pinnacles Film Festival! 🎬🍿

Presented by Sol Treasures in partnership with our team at Arts4MC, the festival welcomed emerging and established filmmakers, community members, and film lovers to King City Cinemas for a full day of screenings, conversations, red carpet moments, and awards. As the first film festival of its kind in South Monterey County, it created a new space for creative expression and shared cultural experiences.

We are grateful to every filmmaker, attendee, volunteer, sponsor, and supporter who helped make this first year possible. More moments from the inaugural festival are still to come, so stay connected! 🎥

Congratulations to Jesus Cruz for winning Best Documentary Feature at the inaugural Pinnacles Film Festival for SOUL SEARCHIN’! 🏆

SOUL SEARCHIN’ explores the passionate world of rare soul record collectors who devote their lives to finding, preserving, and sharing forgotten music. More than a film about collecting, it is a story of cultural preservation, community, and obsession, following collectors as they rescue neglected recordings by Black and Chicano soul artists and transform forgotten songs into living history, from California to the world.

Congratulations to Jesus Cruz and the team behind SOUL SEARCHIN’ on this recognition!

It’s @emmymidatlantic week! To celebrate our Mid-Atlantic Emmy nomination for Outstanding Arts-Long Form and today’s news that “Why I Love You: Meet The Ultimates” got accepted into its first Oscar-qualifying film festival, here’s the full performance of “Why I Love You” shot exclusively for the film! 🎤🎸

This film has been embraced by so many people and is just one example of how authentic storytelling can have reach, even on the most modest budget. An independent short documentary about an independent music group has played for audiences around the world all year, and that is the best win I could have hoped for.

Thank you to everyone who has supported this film in big and small ways. Family members that have let me screen during gatherings. @raqcityy who let us host a screening event at her restaurant at the last possible hour and @shin_bg_records who helped me and @elfilmero get our films in front of Japanese audiences. And of course @masdulcesoul who has helped our film reach so many fans in California. This has been so fun because I didn’t have to do any of it alone.

Enjoy the performance and the full film will be online soon!

This week at Cultural Capital we're cruising to a screening of "Soul Searchin'," a documentary about a Los Angeles crew with the world's ultimate collection of rare soul vinyl and their efforts to preserve low rider oldies musical culture.

Also, we're headed to Gold Country for the debut Auburn Alt Fest and a local fair, plus a musical battle of local breweries and more.

Thanks for all your support as @abridged_pbskvie heads toward its first birthday. Link in bio, Si mon!
