My phone rings on the hour with calls for help from the public. Every time I see an unknown #, I hold my breath & decide whether or not I want to answer it or if my plate is too full to even have a conversation with someone new (news flash it is ALWAYS too full but y’all know by now I like a challenge 😅).
Today I answered the phone to someone who found a stumbling/disoriented kitten in her yard on Thursday and had taken it to the vet for fluids & flea treatment & antibiotics that day but it still wasn’t eating. After talking to her a few minutes I said I couldn’t physically intake the cat but I could see it tonight to give it appetite stimulant and whatever else I thought it could benefit from. She also mentioned she was leaving town next week so I recommended some other rescues she could contact, but she had already contacted them & they told her they were full & couldn’t help her. We are all beyond capacity. We are a 2 person operation currently responsible for 114 lives. My No was firm. But I still made a story post to just see if anyone would want to foster. Miraculously and almost immediately one of our current fosters @casey.wyt who is fostering our CH black kitty Meadow for us, said she would foster! I called the finder to give her the happy news.

Tonight we met Toblerone (she is a rare all brown cat) and did everything we could for her. I boiled water & gave her a steam bath, gave her subQ fluids & a b12 injection, penG antibiotic injection, tested her for FIV/FeLv (negative!), syringe fed nutrional gel & lil soups, gave Mirataz appetite stimulant, dewormed, microchipped her, and sent her on her way, breathing better & with a slightly more full tummy. She was falling asleep in her purrito after the hour she spent here 😴

She will rest well tonight, and tomorrow she will arrive to her new foster home & she will continue on her antibiotics. Once she is healthier she will meet Meadow & they will be foster playmates.

Thank you @casey.wyt for fostering & thank you Nicole & @eli_sha for rescuing her from your yard, keeping her safe, taking her to the vet, and seeking further help for her 🤎 your dedication to helping her surely changed her fate.
