Pulling up in Paradise 🏔️

Might not be a more beautiful place to play the beautiful game.

A privilege to cover @wanakafc throughout their inaugural Southern League campaign in 2025. Can’t wait to see what they cook up this season!

MONDAY NIGHT 6-A-SIDE ⚽️ | AVONHUB

Back at Avonhub tonight after another invite from our brother Eugene - thank you again, always appreciated 🙏

Great fun as always and even better when the results go your way.

The boys put in a solid shift, played some quality football, scored some great goals and came away with 2 wins from 2 💪🔥

High-level small-sided football, great intensity and an awesome way to connect with players from different communities. Already looking forward to the next one!

SUNDAY NIGHT PREP 🇳🇿⚽️ | ROAD TO MELBOURNE

Sunday night training in full swing as we continue preparations for the National Australian Afghan Tournament in Melbourne (26–30). One of the most anticipated tournaments of the year, featuring elite players including members of the Afghanistan National Team.

An exciting opportunity for players selected from Christchurch and the South Island to represent New Zealand alongside our Maiwand NZ brothers, with both Senior and Youth squads taking part 🇳🇿💪

We were blessed tonight to have Ali Nazari join us - still leading by example, playing top-level football and inspiring the next generation. Always a pleasure to have him around 🙌

Huge turnout for game night, great intensity and unreal vibes. Big shoutout to our brothers Dane, Eli, Mac and a special mention to Regan Frame (Nomads First Team) on his debut - what a talent 👏🔥

We keep building. We keep pushing.

Game by game. Together.

we rode some high highs and some low lows but there’s plenty to celebrate after our inaugural southern league season:

👉🏽 first central otago team to play in the southern league in its current format
👉🏽 first newly promoted team to win thier first ever game in the southern league
👉🏽 defeated 2024 southern league champions and national league participants cashmere technical 3-2 at home
👉🏽 went 3 from 3 in our first 3 home games of the season
👉🏽 progressed to the final 16 of the chatham cup, falling 3-0 to national and ofc pro league club christchurch united
👉🏽 started 10 teenagers throughout the campaign
👉🏽 debuted 7 wanaka fc academy graduates
👉🏽 finished in 8th place, securing our spot in the southern league for 2026

congratulations to the players, staff and the club for their courage and commitment to this outright audacious venture.
