H A P P Y 2 1 s t B I R T H D A Y Son. I am so beyond proud of all of who you are and all of who you are becoming. While it is hard for me to process the fact that you are 21 years old… It is not hard for me to see all of your outstanding character and the deep values that shine through you. From your faithful and consistent love of God… To the way you love and make #WeAreTeamStevens laugh… To the love and loyalty you have for your campers and counselors at @ymcacamptecumseh … To your leadership and the many ways you serve and support your coaches and teammates on @baylormbb … To the brotherhood and belonging you create through @baylordelt … To the way you are excelling as a student at @bayloruniversity … It is not hard to see and celebrate you. I continue to pray the prayer I have prayed over you since we brought you home from the hospital: “That God would grow you into the man He created you to be. That you would understand and express your God-given emotions. And that you would always have the courage to do what is right.” I love you, son. I’m so proud to be your dad. Happy 21st Birthday. You live out JOY so beautifully — Jesus. Others. You. You love God deeply, invest in people intentionally, and bring so much laughter and life wherever you go. You challenge our family to be better, love deeper, laugh harder, and keep growing. One of the greatest privileges of my life is getting to be your mom. 3 0 T H A N N I V E R S A R Y ! ! ! Today, Jeanne and I celebrate being blissfully and blessedly married for 30 years!!! That is a…LONG…time. Statistically, less than 35% of marriages make it to their 30th anniversary. That puts us in a matrimonial minority. But we haven’t just “made it” for 30 years… We have grown… We have been stretched… We have faced challenges… We have walked through loss… We have raised two amazing adult children together… We have started a beautiful Church together… We have cheered each other on… We have met both Beyoncé and Mariah together… We have told each other the truth… We have become much of who we are today because of every day that we’ve spent together over these last 30 years. I fundamentally believe that the most important decision you make in your life, next to a decision to say “YES” to Jesus, is the decision of who you say “I DO“ to. And I had no idea when I said “I DO” to you 30 years ago, all that God would do in and through our lives together. Jeanne, I genuinely and wholeheartedly love you more today than every day that’s come before. And I can’t wait to see all that God is going to do over our next 30 years together! You are my love. Roma’d around :) Genuinely amazed at how good and intentional our God is on this trip! Every single moment of this trip, He was there and moving. From being our protection (quite literally- long story), to our joy and light and definitely energy, to our laughter when the Airbnb key snapped in half, to His presence in some sweet and intentional conversations with these incredible girls, to bringing my framily to Rome by chance when I needed it most… Rome was truly a trip not just to see what we’ve learned in the Bible but to see how the Lord still moves mountains today!
