Detail behind the design for @walesinvenice pavilion, for the 61st International Art Exhibition – @venice.art.biennale.
—
Sownd, by @manon_awst + @dylan__huw, is a sequence of stanzas combining organic and geological matter from north Wales and Venice with textural, sonic and architectural interventions.
—
To represent the work, we formed typography from the topography. Tectonic, boggy letterforms built from detailed map data — the textured landforms of Cymru forming the basis of our visual language.
—
The show is open now, at Instituto Santa Maria della Pietà, and runs until 22 November 2026. Events across Wales to be announced soon.

O am fod yn sownd yn Fenis! Diolchgar, prowd a prin o eiria ar ôl wsos lansio llawn hwyl a chariad yn ogystal a’r holl gelf. A’r cam cyntaf ar siwrna @dylan__huw a finna gyda cefnogaeth amhrisiadwy cydweithwyr a ffrindiau.

A week since the launch of Sownd and still buzzing from the energy of Venice! Incredibly grateful and proud to be representing Cymru and giving the Welsh language and culture a voice on this international stage. Sownd is an ongoing journey that wouldn’t be possible without the precious support of friends and collaborators, many of who were there to celebrate with us this time last week.
