EDC is honored to lead the independent evaluation of the Everyday Literacy Alliance, a new national initiative to strengthen literacy for children ages 2 to 8.

A national coalition of partners including @ninepbs , @fredrogersproductions, @adastramedia_org , @elinemedia_ , the Alliance reflects a simple idea: giving children a strong start takes more than any single program, classroom, or screen. It takes public media, family resources and community partnerships all working in harmony.

By studying how these experiences work together, EDC will generate insights that can help communities build stronger environments for early learning and help the field understand how effective literacy approaches can be adapted and scaled.

Can games help us build the future we want? 🎮

Our new episode is live! Hosts Jude Ower MBE and Mathias Gredal Nørvig sit down with Alan Gershenfeld, President and Co-Founder of @elinemedia_ whose career spans Activision, Games for Change, and Endless Studios.

Alan's argument: almost every major AAA future-facing game right now imagines a dystopian future - and that matters, because the worlds we build in games shape how we picture what's ahead.

"Popular media shapes our vision of the future, and then we shape the future often around those visions," Alan tells Jude and Mathias. "But if we're just seeing dystopian visions of the future, it's reinforcing the fear and the overwhelming nature of what's happening in the world."

In this episode:
→ Why Alan is challenging developers to build futures that are neither dystopian nor unrealistically utopian
→ The story behind Never Alone - E-Line Media's BAFTA and Peabody-winning game, built with Alaska Native partners around an Iñupiat story passed down for generations, now reaching 15 million players
→ How games move players from anxiety to agency, and what that means for education, health, and real-world action
→ Why problem-solving and collaboration matter more than ever as AI reshapes every pathway into game-making

Spending 25 days with E-line Media felt like an exhilarating whirlwind! Here is a glimpse into what I got into for those 25 days! Collaborating with this incredible team on an awe-inspiring project was a remarkable journey. I absorbed, excelled, and evolved in more ways than I can capture in a single post. Experiencing the intricacies of large-scale game creation was akin to stepping into a world of wonder—truly enchanting! There's nothing quite like the thrill of discovery, and I'm excited to share it with everyone. Cheers! @elinemedia _

Neighborhoods by @elinemedia_ is an upcoming cozy city sim that shifts the focus from expansion and efficiency to community well-being.

Players improve existing neighborhoods by adding parks, bike lanes, public art, local businesses, and other amenities designed to help residents thrive. As different areas develop, they form their own identities and cultures, creating neighborhoods that feel distinct and alive.

The game is rooted in modern urban design concepts, exploring how thoughtful planning, shared spaces, and community investment can transform a city. It even includes unlockable videos highlighting real-world neighborhood development and urban planning ideas.

Neighborhoods is currently in development.
