Hell of a run, kid.

After 7.5 years working for the best Congresswoman/boss/public servant I’ve met, @reprobinkelly, Wednesday will be my last day serving IL-02. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine I would get this far. As I’ve often joked “I’m just a boy from Beecher” but boy, did I come a long way.

From District to DC, this has been the greatest privilege of my life. The work we did, memories we made, and relationships we formed. Through the good days and the bad, the best decision I ever made was working for Robin. Second best was moving to DC (sorry mom). My whole journey into service was rooted in advocacy following my sister’s suicide. It’s taken turn after turn, but regardless of the issue I was covering, I’ve tried to bring humility and compassion into my work and never lose sight of why I started down this path.

I’m excited about what’s ahead, but feeling very sentimental about this chapter closing. Thank you to all the characters, whatever part you played. An honor to serve alongside you.

As I close out the year, I keep coming back to one thing. Community.

The past four and a half years in Houston have been shaped by friendships. Birthdays and concerts, workdays and celebrations, quiet moments and loud laughter, Baxter’s 10th birthday party, and friends who show up fully knowing how dramatic I am and loving me anyway.

From chosen family here to lifelong friendships that still hold me steady, every relationship in this carousel mattered.

This is who I am, because of who I walk with.
