This illustration is absolutely dreamy and colorful! I'm completely captivated by the flowing blonde hair with pastel beads, the vibrant rainbow path, and Serena floating gracefully on a cloud while using a retro pink phone. Such a whimsical and fun!.

My take on the beautiful #DTIYS by @elisewarr , #serenaoncloud9 ! I took a more simple approach, but I had a ton of fun with all the beads in her hair.

I’ll admit I almost gave up on this piece a few times, but Im thrilled I trusted the process this time and pushed through! I think she turned out pretty great, so I’m proud.

I hope you all like her, too!

It is that wonderful time of the year for mermaids and sirens to take reign!! I've been long overdue for a proper illustration and I'm glad to finally finish this ambitious piece as both an entry to the #CoralTidesMermay challenge for this year's Mermay related piece & as a continuation of my KnH/Apothecary Diaries Mermaids & Sirens series! 💖 For this illustration in particular, the starring character in mind happens to have a particular aesthetic and design that imo fits well with the "Glistening Gills" theme; lots of sparkles, glitter, plenty of pearls and shells, iridescent shades which are pleasing to the eyes... I'd like to think this turned out pretty well 😊

~~Inspiration & Character~~
If anyone watches The Apothecary Diaries, it is a fact that the supporting cast including the courtesan sisters are lacking in fanworks/fan art, so I've made it my goal for every Mermay (or any mermaid/siren related event) to bring the cast of the series outside of Maomao & Jinshi more love; this time the girly, dreamy yet very seductive Pairin out of the three courtesan sisters takes center stage 💕 taking account and mixing in-between the LN, manga & anime versions for the color palette + specific features Pairin has, I wanted her siren design to emphasize her figure (as she canonically dances) and feminine charm that exudes seductive energy. Much of her features are rounder in shape, while her attire allows freedom of movement and emphasizes some of her best assets 😘 There's also a lot of gold, pearls, glittering jewels and dangling ornaments throughout to make her shine with the visualization of everything shifting in motion whenever she moves or dances away ✨

Thank you to all the hosts for the chance to join in this fun challenge!
