Meet the Owner 👋

Hey everyone! My name is Colby McRae, and I’m the proud owner of Promise Land and Lawn.

I’m 21 years old, a Grassfield High School Class of 2022 graduate, and I’ve called Chesapeake home my whole life.

My passion for landscaping started long before I owned a business. As a kid, I spent my summers mowing lawns throughout my neighborhood, and over the years that passion grew into what is now Promise Land and Lawn.

Today, my mission is simple: provide quality services while treating every customer’s property with the same care and attention I’d give my own. Whether we’re maintaining a lawn, installing mulch, designing landscapes, solving drainage problems, or building hardscapes, my goal is to deliver work I’m proud to put my name on.

When I’m not working, you’ll usually find me out on the water fishing, catching waves, in the gym, skiing during the winter, playing basketball, or spending time with my family and friends.

I’m incredibly grateful for everyone who has supported Promise Land and Lawn so far. Every recommendation, referral, and opportunity has helped this business grow, and I couldn’t have done it without this amazing community.

This is only the beginning. My vision is to continue growing Promise Land and Lawn while serving more homeowners throughout Chesapeake and the surrounding cities—all while staying true to the quality and customer service that got us here.

After an amazing day at our Summer Fair on Saturday, the girls were right back in the studio for tryouts for our upcoming season!
We are so excited about what the future holds for both our new and returning dancers. However, you'll have to wait just a little longer for those announcements. While these talented young ladies are wrapping up their 2025-2026 school year, they're also hard at work preparing for their next big adventures.

First up is the On Point National Dance Competition, where they'll take the stage and represent our studio. Then it's off to Disney, where they'll have the incredible opportunity to perform—and maybe even spot Mickey Mouse while they're there!

Our feed may be a little quieter over the next week or two as we focus on rehearsals and preparations, but don't worry—we'll be back with plenty of updates, photos, and excitement, especially as we take on On Point Nationals and head to the Most Magical Place on Earth.

Thank you for continuing to cheer on these hardworking dancers. We can't wait to share the journey with all of you! 💜✨🏆🎭🏰🐭
