Good afternoon, Lions! It’s time for another #MeetALionMonday! Today, I’m proud to introduce you to Anyah Matthews, our 2024 SLU Homecoming Queen.

Anyah is from Zachary, Louisiana, and is a junior kinesiology major with a concentration in exercise science and is set to graduate in Fall 2025!

Since transferring to Southeastern, Anyah has made a significant impact through her campus involvement. She served as a 2023-2024 Orientation Leader, is a proud Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. member, and has been actively involved in the Black Student Union. She also dedicates her time mentoring fellow students as part of Project P.U.L.L. (2023 & 2024).

She has earned several awards, including the ELITE Women President’s Award, The Heart of a Lion Award from the Office of Admissions, and a spot on the 2024 Homecoming Court! Academically, she shines, being named to the Spring 2024 President’s List, Fall 2023 Dean’s List, and Spring 2023 Provost’s List.

“My favorite part about being a Southeastern Lion is that I’m able to make a great impact on my peers. Since transferring to Southeastern, I’ve become intentionally involved in campus life, and Southeastern just feels like home—it’s a comfortable environment. I’ve made genuine connections with the people around me, and that means so much,” Anyah expressed.

Being a Lion has allowed her to grow, expand her leadership abilities, and create lifelong memories with the people she holds dear. We hope she cherishes these moments forever.

We are so proud to have you in our Lion family, Anyah! Keep up the fantastic work!
