POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

And then there was the “550 Cord”@inhonorperformance over the weekend. I wrote something that I felt needed to be written, and shared it onstage. It was terrifying to be so honest and real with strangers, but I wanted to tell the stories I had rolled into one moment. The actors and team were so kind and I was welcomed into their world of art, expression and theater. @deanlares and my friends sat in the audience, supporting me. It will always be a cherished memory in my life.

I don’t know what’s next for “550 Cord”, but I do know I am going to continue to write and create.

How do we bring conversations about death, grief, and loss into the light?

Our Founder & Executive Director, @elizabethcoplan, recently sat down with @stanfordlongevity to talk about the power of theatre to help us engage with one of life’s most difficult, and universal, experiences.

Through Grief Dialogues, Elizabeth has spent years creating spaces where stories of loss can be witnessed, shared, and met with empathy. Because sometimes, bringing death to life on stage can help us better understand how to live, love, grieve, and connect.

We’re honored to share her conversation and the heart behind the work. ❤️

Two nights. Two actors. Two performances that will not leave you the same.

This October, Jeffery Hensel and Dwayne Shaw step into the role of Michael in “Michael and the Saints,” one of the stories at the heart of In Honor: We Hold the Line.

Michael is a former Marine looking back many years after Fallujah, reckoning with what he survived, the people he lost, and what it means to keep choosing hope after war. The piece moves through memory and grief, touching on the distance between the people who serve and the people waiting for them at home, ultimately asking what we owe one another when war is over.

And you have only one opportunity to see each actor tell it.

Jeffery Hensel — Friday, Oct. 23
Dwayne Shaw — Saturday, Oct. 24

In Honor: We Hold the Line is an immersive evening of theatre, music, remembrance and storytelling honoring Service Members, Veterans and the families who love them.

📍 Radius Center | San Antonio
🕖 October 23 & 24 | 7 p.m.

Come witness it for yourself.

Tickets at the link in my bio.

Barri Grant’s recent article on substack called “good grief on the world stage” really resonated with a lot of people, including the founder & executive director of Grief Dialogues, Elizabeth Coplan.

Here are Elizabeth’s insightful comments about this beautiful article:

Barri, the grocery store line got me. A can of tomato soup, one past tense verb, and two strangers aren’t alone anymore. That’s the whole thing, isn’t it?

“Make grief part of the daily vernacular” is exactly why I started Grief Dialogues ten years ago. We do it with theatre and film, and I see what you saw at your screening. The lights come up, people turn to the stranger beside them, and they start saying names. Sara Bareilles filling Radio City with an album called Good Grief tells me the quiet corners are getting louder.

I love the idea of a mourning pin. I’d wear one.

Thank you for lighting the candle. Please add Elizabeth and Robert Pohlmann to your list.

Three performers, one story and a piece of cord that means far more than it appears at first blush.

Meet Catherine Babbitt, Torence Henderson, and Dr. Jennifer Lares, the cast of “550 Cord,” one of four short plays featured in In Honor: We Hold the Line — San Antonio.

On October 23 and 24, In Honor takes over the Radius Center for an immersive evening centered on the experiences of Service Members, Veterans, and military families. Through four short plays alongside live music, personal stories and remembrance, the production explores the lives behind the uniforms and the relationships that continue long after service ends.

We couldn’t be more excited to have Catherine, Torence and Jennifer helping us tell one of those stories.

Two nights only.

📍 Radius Center | Downtown San Antonio
📅 October 23 & 24, 2026
🕖 7 p.m.
🎟️ Tickets: GriefDialogues.com/in-honor/san-antonio-2026/ (or link in bio!)
