A letter from the director:

I have always struggled to watch myself perform for a wide range of reasons. I find it difficult to get past my battle with body image issues and to jump the disconnect in my brain between what I thought I was doing and what the recording is showing me. But when I am watching other people perform, I see their strength, resilience, beauty, hard work, glow and so much more.

Here are the things I wish you would see when you watch yourself (and I wish I was better at telling myself):

1. You woke up today and did something brave, you stuck your neck out there and practiced some new skills
2. Look how capable your body is! It’s moving and singing and acting and being silly and so much more
3. If the internal battle is too tough—focus on the person next to you and cheer them on. Look at all the cool things they are doing and be so proud of them for it!
4. Cut yourself some slack, being perfect is dull—being messy and human is beautiful
5. Learning never has to stop, it’s an amazing journey we can do our whole lives if we want to. If you arenr happy with what you are seeing now, maybe that’s a chance for growth. Do you want to be able to kick higher? Take a local class for adults. Do you struggle with holding a harmony? Look into voice lessons or even YouTube!

I hope you can see what it is I see everytime folks perform—vulnerability and power 💗
Sincerely,
Taylor
