Holding this book in my hands is a moment I will never, ever take for granted.

What began as a small idea, deeply rooted in my own story, has grown into something so much bigger than me. It has become a love letter to every child who has ever wondered if their differences made them less than, and a gentle reminder that they have always belonged.

My greatest hope is that when you read Winston Wants to Belong, you truly feel it in your heart, that quiet, powerful reminder that you belong here, exactly as you are. That our differences are never something to hide, but something to better understand, celebrate, and make space for with compassion.

Introducing Winston Wants to Belong: A Dog’s Guide to Celebrating Our Differences 🐶🌼🤍

For the last six months, this dream has been coming to life one page at a time, and I still can’t believe it’s finally real.

I have always dreamed of creating a children’s book, but it wasn’t until AccessAbility came to life that I truly understood the story I was meant to tell. Through Winston’s eyes, this book gently opens the door for conversations around inclusion, empathy, resilience, and celebrating what makes each of us beautifully different.

At its heart, this story is a reminder that everyone has something that makes them unique and something they may be walking through, but those differences never make us any less special, less capable, or less worthy of belonging.

Hidden throughout the pages, you may spot tiny daisies 🌼 woven into Winston’s world. These daisies are a quiet symbol of resilience, a reminder that even in unexpected places and through difficult seasons, there is always room to grow, bloom, and belong.

What makes this even more special is that Winston, my sweet French bulldog and constant companion through every high and every hard moment, is truly the heart of this story. Even the characters throughout the book are inspired by real animals from my own life, making every page feel personal, warm, and full of love.

Bringing this dream to life alongside one of my closest friends, whose illustrations made Winston’s world feel like home, has been one of the most meaningful parts of my year.

And now, the most exciting part… the release date is coming soon! ✨

Winston Wants to Belong will soon be available on Amazon and Kindle, and I truly cannot imagine a more exciting way to celebrate stepping into my 21st birthday than by sharing this dream with all of you.

This market I sold buttons (which I made and designed), earrings, and screen prints! I enjoyed every second of it and shared a table with the wonderful @maryhelenbandy !
