If I could tell this little girl one thing, it would be that she’ll find her place.

School didn’t make me feel particularly capable. I had a creative side that was desperate to come out, but I didn’t know where it belonged. Looking back, I wish I’d understood that being good at school and having something to offer the world aren’t the same thing.

While I was collecting homemade face-mask recipes from magazines and becoming obsessed with makeup, I was already finding my way.

And 38 years later, I’m still following it.

Beauty has never just been a job for me. I’ve wanted to explore every part of it: skin, makeup, working with clients, educating, film, fashion and TV. Through Look Good Feel Better, I’ve helped women going through cancer treatment with their makeup. And my nine years with MECCA have given me the everyday pleasure of helping women and teens find products and techniques that make them feel good.

Over the years, there have been people who have called it “more of a hobby than a career”. Perhaps because there’s no nine-to-five, no fixed salary, and some seasons are busier than others. But the work, the skill and the commitment have always been there. I’m proud of what I’ve built, even if I haven’t always given myself enough credit for it.

And yes, I still get imposter syndrome. I still wonder whether I’m good enough. I suspect some of that will always be with me. But I keep learning, putting myself forward and doing the work because I love it.

This Wednesday, I get to share that love of beauty alongside @simoneaspinallmakeup (at our 6th Kerrie x Simone event) who I absolutely adore. We’ve been friends since she was 16 as a young apprentice and I was 24. She’s gone from feeling like a little sister to becoming one of my closest friends, and the love and respect between us has never changed. I wouldn’t want to be doing this with anyone else.

Helping women understand their skin, feel more confident with makeup and enjoy it again is exactly why we created these nights.

I think that little girl would be pretty excited about where we’ve ended up. 🤍

A little farewell to our beautiful Maddie 🤍

After almost four and a half wonderful years with Ella Baché Chatswood, Maddie is starting an exciting new chapter!

Maddie joined us as a second-year apprentice, and it’s been lovely watching her grow over the years and become the therapist and salon manager she is today.

Thank you, Maddie, for all your hard work, dedication, support and the many laughs we’ve shared along the way. You’ve been such an important part of our salon, and we’re going to miss having you around!

While we’re sad to say goodbye, we’re excited to see you take on a completely new career and wish you every success in this next chapter.

Enjoy your well-deserved break in Thailand and all the very best for what’s ahead! ✈️🌴

Newies on my face!

@vitani_skin has launched with the pro aging vs1 serum*. It’s creamy and lovely on the skin, phenomenal scent, and packed with echinacea stem cells to promote collagen production in the skin. Glycerin and fatty alcohol emulsion base with hydrating saccharide isomerate and hyaluronic acid. Antioxidant pomegranate and Davidson plum extract for an extra boost.

A surprise to me was the @ellabacheaus purifying tomate emulsion*. This has a unique cocooning texture that sets instantly on the skin, leaving it calmed, soothed and comfortable and it’s brilliant underneath sunscreen. Fatty base with multiple tomato extracts for antioxidant protection. Plenty of film formers and thickeners create the unique texture. Typically I wouldn’t go for this style of moisturiser, but it’s a genuine delight.

New to my eye area, the @lorealaunz collagen tightening eye cream. Pillowy moisturiser, that soaks in nicely and leaves you comfortable and glowy. Glycerin, smoothing ingredients, firming peptides, soy proteins and plenty of lipids for nourishment. Good all rounder, does the job.

A product that’s been a bit viral lately, the @anua_global pdrn hyaluronic acid hydrating capsule mist soothes and hydrates. It’s a super fine mister which surprised me. I was expecting to be blasted tbh. Hydrating and lovely, with piles of botanical antioxidants and ferments, humectants to hydrate, whilst soothing ceramides and peptides do the work.
