Had to post this. Wasn’t there. But look how happy!! My dear South African friends experiencing Michigan Football for the first time as they join their exceptional @uofmichigan freshman @elladorfmann 🥁🏈🏟️ Much to our family’s chagrin, not one of the nine grandchildren went to Michigan, but our dear Ella did!!!! Wooop wooop!! /////
Now on a more thoughtful note, if you read this far, I’d like to point out that these two exceptional South Africans became citizens after a long process which included proving their value to our economy and our society. And man, did they ever! I would list highlights, but you can find them on LinkedIn or @imdb 😂Their daughter will grow up to be an accomplished, thoughtful American worker. Economically and in EVERY way, we will decline fast if we don’t retain talent and recruit exceptional people from every field and from every country. And it starts with incentivizing them to join our universities, not adding obstacles, withholding visas & instilling fear in them and their parents. This is a separate but related issue from the brutal ICE raids taking place, which I acknowledge is a more urgent problem.
