We are here with an update on NADOE’s work within the Power2UAMs project in 2026, which aims to improve access to local services and support for unaccompanied minors (UAMs).

Following the publication of our three city reports at the end of last year, NADOE and our partner organisation @caritasintbe have launched a series of practical local activities over the coming months. These activities aim to support the development of local strategies in each city to address the challenges and obstacles UAMs face in accessing services and support.

Led by @caritasintbe and supported by NADOE, local working group meetings have already started in each of the three cities, bringing together professionals including legal guardians, policy officers, and social assistants to identify the key challenges faced by UAMs and develop local strategies for improvement.

In parallel, our colleague @ellapetousis at NADOE will lead the Child Participation Platforms: a series of creative and interactive workshops designed to amplify the voices and experiences of young people. These platforms will connect UAMs with local youth organisations and participation initiatives, ensuring their perspectives directly contribute to local strategies and solutions.

Stay tuned as the meetings and workshops continue over the coming months!

You can also read our Power2UAMs local-level reports on our website.

Today and for the first time we have done a 10 kilometers trail race. The road was pretty challenging as we had to climb lots of hills.
I’m pretty happy with the results at the end☺️
The biggest thanks goes to my friend Ella for the amazing support during the race. Thank you dear.

Created in Suspension, an installation at Afrikaburn 2024
Tankwa Karoo
-
Wanting to re use the old steel frames from a previous project 6 years ago was where we started with this artwork. The frames had rusted over time, and were now covered in the most beautiful reds and browns. This immediately made us think of the Karoo and some of the rocks one might find there.
For me having grown up in a similar environment, and for many of us the landscape of Afrikaburn in the Tankwa Karoo was definitely something worth highlighting and showing off. Instead of bringing new objects into the space, perhaps we could elevate the objects already found there, making for a contemplative experience, appreciating these insanely vast, ancient planes where we would be spending the next week.

The experience of working in a group, realizing this artwork together and then seeing it in its natural habitat was absolutely rewarding in so many ways. Thank you to my dear friends, for this creation and for an unforgettable time in the dust!
