About 8 years ago, I wrote a very long song about rooms full of men. It happened after an improv workshop at school, taught by some saxophone player. The only other girl in my class was sick that day. I tried to improvise like everybody else- but I couldn’t. Suddenly, every room full of men I had ever been in up until that point piled up on top of one another and closed in on me. As a musician- not to mention a singer, not to mention just a girl with opinions- I suddenly realized how all those rooms were connected to rooms I had never even been in: security council meetings , war rooms, medical committees- where all the men are jazz musicians, with their instruments in tune or out of tune, improvising with our lives. I called my friend @tai____morris , who always knew how to imagine what music looks like, and said, “Tai, I wrote a way- too-long song, Maybe you could make a video for it?” ever since, each one of us has been growing in her own manly career field, with a vision to create some day a movie that is way-too-long and way-too-feminine - about ROOMS FULL OF MEN. HUGE thanks to all my girls for making this with me. I couldn’t have done anything without you.
