There is nothing like the support of STRIKERS 💥
When three Strikers have an exhibition on in Sunderland the rest of the gang are there to support 🎉 There are always some creative photos, some unintentional, some that just happen as the creative energy can’t stay contained 😂

My joy comes when painting the streets 🎨 🌈
Stories of Home and Skies of Home in the making - June 2026 as part of @wearembro Storytelling Festival.
Skies of home by @hannahcampionartist
This gives you a little snapshot into our time painting @creativefactoryboro houses and the little moment to make it happen. Thank you so much to the loca residents who brought us ice lollies during a heatwave, to Harriet flagging down the ice cream man as well as being Hannah’s amazing painting assistant. To @ellenranson always hands on and making things happen. To those that came and saw us while painting and even sketched us @thelivesketcher
What an amazing community to be immersed in, listening to poetry, languages, stories of creativity and life.
This is all joy 🤩

Here we are with banner maker Ed Hall at the @durhamminersgala on Saturday. It was such a pleasure to meet him following the collaboration with Ed and Jeremy Deller for this year's limited edition print. We couldn't resist a photo in front of one of the banners they created.

In total, they made three banners - one specifically for the print, the full banner you see here, and the one for the iconic balcony at the County Hotel (pic 2) - all carrying this year's message.

They also became merch, and all of this helps raise funds for the Durham Miners Gala.

You can buy the time-limited edition print until 12 noon on Monday 13 July. Link in bio.

Thanks to photographer Keith Pattison* for sending us the photos he took at the Miners' Gala in 1987, as well as his copy of the Gala brochure from that year, we have an extraordinary record of the event at which the Peace Mural was first unveiled. Here are a few details from some of Keith's photos. You will no doubt see some familiar faces amongst the crowd and speakers, including Arthur Scargill, Tony Benn, David Guy and Myrtle MacPherson. In the 87 Gala brochure was a page dedicated to the Peace Mural.

Call in to the No More Nowt tent to get more information about our upcoming project celebrating 40 years since the mural was created. This is an opportunity to get involved at the start, as we build towards a big celebration in 2027, 40 years after the mural was first unveiled.

Big thanks to No More Nowt for their support at this year's Gala (shout out to Aaron Bowman in particular, who has been an enormous help and Meghan Darby for support on the day). Thanks also of course to Barrie Ormsby, who designed and led the creation of the mural, for his cooperation with and contribution to this project, as well as all the other artists who worked on it (far too many to name here!). Thanks to Redhills (especially Alix, Andrew and Victoria) for their support so far (watch this space!) and for hosting the tent. We've probably forgotten to mention a few people but we've tagged a few of you and there will be plenty more opportunities do do so ...

See you on the field! 🕊️☮️✊🏻
