OG OR MAN 141 – OG Grogan

On @steamradiomcr today Sunday at 3pm and Mixcloud later!

This show celebrates the 45th anniversary of Happy Birthday, the debut album of Clare Grogan fronted Altered Images (now touring). A curious record, 95% of which is Banshees dark goth, the remaining 5% being the bubble gum gurgly pop that they would become rightly famous for.

This show as usual leans into similar genre swerves, including inter alia: four entirely different tracks called “Leave Me Alone”, Ukranian folk drone, more wonky emanations from the Tod odd bods, other weird communications from Stockport and Amsterdam mesmerising dark psychedelia and dazzling sunshine funk.

And the best ever 12” pop remix ever made, and I WILL fight anyone who disagrees.

Tracklist has its fist up in the comments.

OG OR MAN – music to put you in a right mood.

Crocodile Story is a strange piece of fiction by @ellie_bleach that was published in @die_quieter_please, and read at our independent magazines event at @stbridefoundation last month. I loved this one when I read it in print, but it's even better with Ellie's deadpan delivery. See her whole reading on our YouTube channel (link in bio) and pick up a copy of Die Quieter Please to read the whole thing. Video courtesy of @crowdfindervid

Mama Mia! A great deal of hard work and love was poured into the creation of the house band, Voulez-Vous, for our 18th birthday 🎈

Led by Oliver Marson & whipped into shape by ABBA expert and royal college professor Ian Jones on piano they totally nailed a 90 minute set of wall-to-wall bangers - such great energy in the room 🤩 🪩

Huge thank you to the wonderfully talented core band of Jen on bass & Steph on drums, guest players Luca and Simon, alongside our rotating superstar lineup of talented singers who all brought some unique magic to the show….take a bow Ellie Bleach, Millie Turner, Rhumba Club, SAARA, Andrea Di Giovanni, Ocean LeClair & Alicia ✨

If you missed the show, they’re taking it to Moth Club on Sat 7 Feb - give yourself something to look forward to in 2026 and grab a ticket on DICE before they all disappear 🎟️

WOW! We've just about come back down to earth after our 18th birthday - what a beautiful party that was!! Thank you to everyone who made it down to celebrate with us and to our incredible band who absolutely killed it - ain't no party like a Paper Dress party! 🥂 💕 🚀

After our Madonna party last year, we worked out that once wasn't enough! So, if you missed the ABBA show - or need to see it again! - we're taking it to MOTH Club on Sat 7 Feb - we'll see you down the front!
