Between Riverside and Crazy really lived up to its name. Thank you to the cast and crew and 1st Stage for letting me come back for this special show. And many thanks to Bill Newman for sharing his artistry with us. Also thank you to Lulu. You were so much fun to play :)

BETWEEN RIVERSIDE AND CRAZY can't be summed up in a few words. A gorgeous show, a tough experience, a world of love and care proven through the connections we make. A STELLAR star-studded team that came together, night after night, to give us the gift of this production. We're sad to see this magnificent show close. 🌇

Congratulations to the entire team - they have made magic happen at 1st Stage. We're beyond grateful for everything they have done. Cheers to the team, and cheers to you! Thank you for making this theatre a home. 💕🎉

Between Riverside and Crazy at 1st Stage is such an incredible performance. I love small ensemble plays because everyone has to be sharp and this whole cast is SHARP! Go check it out before they close on March 15. And when you do, come back to the comments and tell me your favorite character. Mine is Oswaldo #play #virginia

BETWEEN RIVERSIDE AND CRAZY
Written by Stephen Adly Guirgis
Directed by José Carrasquillo
February 19 - March 8, 2026

Winner of the 2015 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Ex-cop and recent widower Walter “Pops” Washington and his newly paroled son Junior have spent a lifetime living between Riverside and crazy. But now, the NYPD is demanding his signature to close an outstanding lawsuit, the landlord wants him out, the liquor store is closed—and the church won’t leave him alone. When the struggle to keep one of New York City’s last great rent-stabilized apartments collides with old wounds, sketchy new houseguests, and a final ultimatum, it seems that the old days may be dead and gone. “…wonderful…a genuine original, that deserves to be seen….” — Newsday (NY).
