Four days. Twelve artists. Countless moments of discovery.
.
As Winter Immersion Project 2026 comes to a close, we’re deeply grateful for the shared time, creative exchange, and commitment each artist brought into the studio. These days were filled with collaboration, challenge, laughter, and growth — the kind of work that stays with us long after the process ends.
.
Thank you for trusting the space, the work, and each other.
Wishing each of you continued courage, clarity, and success as you move forward into the next chapters of your artistic journeys.

This image comes from my toolkit session during Boston Dance Theater’s Winter Immersion Project.

I gave the same creative prompt to 26 dancers and stepped back.

What emerged wasn’t a single aesthetic or unified answer, but a field of responses, each shaped by individual history, curiosity, and choice.

This is how I think about decentralized leadership in practice, not the absence of structure, but a clear container that allows many intelligences to surface at once.

My role is not to author every outcome, but to set conditions, listen carefully, and notice what wants to take shape collectively.

This is a core part of how we work and train at Boston Dance Theater.
