woke up to 33 (!!!) feeling all the creative power this angel number brings with it after a few days immersed in the treasures of Tangier 🍊🇲🇦 staying in Yves Saint Laurent’s former summer home—now the twelve room @villamabrouka—made for the most idyllic backdrop to explore this coastal city located just an hour ferry ride from southern Spain

so much more to say about the closed doors we were fortunate enough to get behind here (including into the private home of @genemeyer3 and @frankdebiasi) thanks to a very well-connected local, but as usual, i’ll save my more long-winded bits for The Sunday Series. for now, endless gratitude for the time and space to be here. now here we go on another trip around the sun!!🌞🤍 #tangier #morocco #villamabrouka

📍a new discovery, #tangier and a city that deserves a spot on your list

My guide to where to stay, eat, shop and explore, plus all the little places that made us fall in love with it

💌 Comment “TANGIER” and I’ll send you our full 3-day itinerary, all my tips + the contact for our amazing local guide

🏠

Where to stay

🌿 Villa Mabrouka: Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé’s former Tangier home, now a beautiful hotel in one of the best locations in the city; worth visiting even if you’re not staying here

🪞 Lalla Soulika: where we stayed and a recent opening. Incredible service, beautifully designed interiors and an amazingly spacious suite

🌊 Nord-Pinus: characterful Kasbah hotel with eclectic interiors and a rooftop overlooking the Strait of Gibraltar

🌴 Villa Josephine: romantic old-world villa on the outskirts of Tangier, with beautiful gardens and a pool - perfect if you want something quieter away from the Medina

🍽️

where to eat:

TANGIER

🐟 Le Saveur du Poisson: a Tangier classic for seafood; simple, local and all about the food. No bookings so your best bet is to turn up early to avoid a long queue

🔥 Chez Hassan: tiny, chaotic, cheap and exactly where you want to be eating in the Kasbah. Perfect place to try authentic Moroccan skewers for lunch

🌿 Villa Mabrouka: has two restaurants. L’Orangerie is the better one of the two; go for the food and the beautiful garden setting for lunch. However, if I had to pick one, I’d recommend booking Luca’s Terrazza for dinner

ASILAH

🌊 L’Ocean: casual beachfront lunch with grilled fish and sea views. Perfect spot for lunch on your way back from Asilah

🦐 Casa Pepe: old-school seafood restaurant in the centre of Asilah with a very Spanish-Moroccan coastal feel. Great option if you’d rather stay for lunch in Asilah

where to eat

🌿 Villa Mabrouka: has two restaurants. L’Orangerie is the better one of the two; go for the food and the beautiful garden setting. However, we would recommend booking Luca’s Terrazza to enjoy wood-fired Roman-style pizzas with uninterrupted sea views. Book an early dinner so you can see Villa Mabrouka before it gets dark (we did 7pm)

🎹 El Morocco Club: stylish Kasbah dinner

Tangier is wild at heart; it takes curiosity to earn her secrets. But once the Tangerois open their doors, their addresses, gem follows gem: small cafés, grand tables, museums holding paintings you didn’t expect, familiar names beside quieter, finer ones. Here’s a little address book, kept for your next journey.
