In the realm where Mycorrhiza spores intertwine,
A tale of sustenance, nature’s design.
In shadows deep, where light dares not to tread,
They weave their threads, where the sun has fled.
Through dampened fronds and decaying wood,
They break down the old, as only they could.
Transforming the dead into life anew, A cycle eternal, a process true.
With roots that emerge from the grove floor, In hues of amber, ochre, and more.
Their gills release spores into the air,

One of my favorite times this summer was dancing with my beautiful wife Eloise.

From my book: “Eloise is way more than a beautiful face. She’s a great mom and a great companion. We often travel together, and she always knows exactly what to do and say… Just yesterday we talked about a recent trip and how grateful we were for the people we met and everything we learned. Today we visited their program center for job training and placement and couldn’t help but reminisce about John Paul’s longtime commitment to encouraging others and sharing his story of homelessness to where he is now. More than 16 years ago, John Paul had the idea to try to help folks grow their own food in Appalachia. He called @bereacollege, a leader in the region, to see if they wanted to partner. All these years later, the partnership has led to thousands of gardens 🌱 across five states, right in people’s backyards. Gardeners eat the food, they sell the food, they give it away to neighbors — almost 8 million pounds of organic produce over the years! Grow Appalachia has grown even beyond the garden grant program, which we love. 🚜

Thanks to everyone who took the time to show us their gardens!
