![How do we cultivate peace within the perpetual chaos of existence? 🔮
It seems that every day has some degree of conflict. Problems, confusions, disagreements, miscommunications. Every day, every week, every month something is bound to happen in some capacity. Perhaps, often times, so minuscule that we don’t pay attention to it.
As humans with experience, we know and expect this. But a common misconception is that at some point we will become immune to it.
We all know that one person who says “I am already used to negative things happening so I am ready for them.”
Or there is the over-analyzer that tries to predict and overthink outcome A, B, and C to feel “prepared for anything.” (That’s me *🥲🙋🏻♀️*)
The reality is that people never become immune to problems. In fact, if you don’t learn healthy ways of handling various obstacles - they eventually build up. And then sooner or [much] later, it floats up. Mentally, physically, or in a way where you not only hurt yourself, but also the people around you.
When you overthink as a mechanism for “mental preparation” you are actually making things worse. Imagine you overthink a scenario and the outcome is completely different. You worried for no reason. On the flip side, imagine the outcome is exactly how you expected: you worried before and now you are likely going to worry some more.
Expecting a certain outcome doesn’t necessarily make you accept it any easier.
There are only two rational ways to deal with any problem: 1. If there is anything you can do about it, do it. 2. If there is nothing you can do, stop worrying about it.
Easy right? No, it’s not 🙃 But it’s a necessary way to reframe your outlook and make peace with things outside of your control.
How do you deal with problems? Whats your coping mechanism? wish I could give a good answer but I’m still learning 😬
