Elena Gual’s first solo exhibition in Seoul “Something Is Still Growing”🌹💙 Thank you everyone that came by to enjoy together the opening during the Cheongdam Art Night and Seoul Art Week!

So grateful to have been able to be part of this wonderful project connecting Spain and Korea through art.

<젓가락 놀이>🥢
놀이의 시작 신호는 양손의 손가락을 하나씩 빼어 몸 앞에 나란히 두는 것이다. 마주 본 서로의 손을 건드려 핑퐁 핑퐁 진행되는 젓가락 놀이는 2인전의 형태를 띤 이번 전시와 닮아있다.
이기찬, 홍채연 두 작가의 작업은 각자의 어린 시절에서 비롯되었다. 가벼운 낙서나 아이 같은 발상에서 시작된 작은 피스는 각각 확대 혹은 증식된다. 놀이의 시작처럼 서로를 마주보고 설치된 두 작가의 회화 작업은 고단한 현실에 치인 관람자를 힐링과 동심의 세계로 이끈다. 놀이 속 공간에 들어온 관람자는 사람만 한 낙서를 보고 쉽게 말을 걸고, 캔버스를 훌쩍 뛰어넘어 돌아다니는 토끼를 보며 웃음 짓는다.
두 작가는 관람자와 그림이 서로 영향을 주고받고 관계되며 이번 전시가 즐거운 놀이 공간이 되길 희망한다. -글 이채은

<Chopstick Play>🥢
The signal to start the game is extending each finger one by one and aligning both hands in front of the body. The chopsticks game, where hands meet and proceed in a ping-pong rhythm, resembles the two-person format of this exhibition.
The works of artists Lee Gi-chan and Hong Chae-yeon originate from their respective childhoods. Small pieces, born from light doodles or childlike ideas, are each magnified or multiplied. Like the beginning of a game, the paintings of the two artists, installed facing each other, guide viewers weary from the burdens of reality into a healing and childlike world.
Entering the playful space, viewers encounter doodles the size of people, striking up conversations with ease, and smile as they watch rabbits hopping beyond the canvas. The two artists hope that the interaction between the audience and the artworks will create a playful and joyful space through this exhibition.
