We’re excited to announce that we’re adding a Mutual Aid Campaign to our national events!

Mutual aid is about showing up for one another in real, tangible ways and we’re making that a core part of how we gather and build power as a community.

Our first donation drive will support @elrefugiostewart an incredible organization providing hospitality, meals, transportation, and support to families impacted by immigration detention in Georgia. Their work embodies compassion and resistance in action.

If you’re attending our Labor Day event, bring items to donate or contribute directly to El Refugio online. https://elrefugiostewart.org/en/donate Let’s turn our national gathering into a moment of collective care.

Monday, September 1st (Labor Day), we’re fighting back against the billionaire agenda gutting our jobs, schools, healthcare, and communities! They’re attacking workers rights, firing union workers, raising the cost of living, and hiding their corruption in plain sight. Together, through our unions, we’re turning our shared economic strength into a powerful demand for “Workers over Billionaires.”
We’ll be meeting at 3pm at Woodruff Park in downtown Atlanta. This event is sponsored by: Atlanta DSA, 50501GA, Georgia Voices United, Indivisible Georgia Coalition, and many other organizations and unions across North Georgia.

The only TV news coverage of Allison’s abduction and detention was by the local TeleNoticias in Spanish. It wasn’t easy to do the voice over and captions in English to reach my non-spanish speaking audience. This took quite a bit of effort. I appreciate it if you watch till the end and do all the things: Heart, Share to your stories, Repost, and Comment.
.
If you want to donate to Allison’s commissary and calling card fund, comment “Allison”. Thanks.

Government seeks to send 45-year-old to Liberia, the home he left at age 2!!!

A judge will decide within 30 days whether a Gwinnett County barber should be deported to the country that he left as a toddler 43 years ago.
Rodney Taylor has been in immigration custody since January. Taylor’s case has drawn an outcry from critics of the administration’s immigration policies.

Inside the sprawling ICE detention center in the south Georgia town of Lumpkin, Taylor has been in an isolation cell for weeks, according to his supporters. They say the Gwinnett County barber had lived a respectable and uplifting life, following a burglary conviction as a teenager.
Although the state pardoned Taylor in that case, ICE agents picked him up in January. He’s been locked up since then.
His fiancée, Mildred Pierre, was among two dozen supporters who gathered Tuesday outside the Stewart County facility, calling for his release.

They say Taylor, who uses two prosthetic legs, has been punished and isolated in the jail for failing to quickly respond to orders given by guards. Supporters added that Taylor has been denied requests to obtain the electric charges his prostheses require to operate properly.
“Snatched now from his family, to face solitary confinement,” said Nana Gyamfi, of Black Alliance for Just Immigration, outside the detention center Tuesday. “This man was put in the hole as a double amputee.”

Worst-case scenario would be the federal government deporting him to Liberia, which he left 43 years ago on a medical visa to go to the United States.

Taylor stayed locked up inside the facility while his backers rallied outside.
Shortly afterward, Taylor appeared with his attorney in a hearing at the detention center closed to the public. His fiancée was also in the courtroom. The attorney made the case for his release. The judge in the case promised a ruling within 30 days.

Today I packed up some travel soaps to donate to @elrefugiostewart — an organization that offers hospitality and support to families visiting loved ones detained at Stewart Detention Center.

When I made the decision to bring back Becalia, I knew I wanted to lead with purpose. Supporting El Refugio felt like the most natural place to start—right here in my own backyard in Georgia, in community.

These handmade soaps are just a small gesture of care for those who deserve to be reminded they are seen, loved, and never alone.

Thank you for being on this journey with me. You’re a part of this too. 🤍
